View Full Version : Beams For Sale: Help - Belts/Mounts on Caldina BEAMS into 91 NA Mk2

Ice04-24-2010, 01:34 PMI've been neglecting this project, but need some help. This is a Caldina BEAMS (the guy I bought it from was told it was from a Canadian 97 Celica) in a '91 NA Mk2. It's mounted and has a Phoenix wiring harness installed, but my shop can't figure out the accessory/belt mounts. Photo shows the belt end of the installed motor.

I think the problem is that I have the MR2's original A/C compressor instead of the A/C compressor that came off the BEAMS engine, but I'm just not sure what I'm looking at here. Can anyone tell from the photo/info what I need to do to get the belt to mount/work?

I'm moving soon, and if I can't get the car running, I'm going to have to sell it as is, therefore: car/engine possibly for sale. Thanks for any help offered-

Ice MANDALAY04-29-2010, 08:49 AMNah you are wrong.
The air compressor for ANY MR2 are the same and same mounting.
What you have is FWD layout.
You have to modify your bracket, grind metal off , add a spacer on one of the bolts to mount the compressor.
Go through my thread and you will see it and where MANDALAY04-29-2010, 08:51 AMAlso what about all the other mods to make it run.
Definitely would have been easier out of the car...................... Ice05-04-2010, 09:08 PMI think your photo is showing me the modified/ground bracket and the spacer you mentioned? I appreciate the help, Mandalay. I think I'm out of time and will just post the car for sale. Thoughts on asking price? It's a 91 NA MR2 w/the BEAMS engine install incomplete (mounted, wired, but not the A/C, alternator or serpentine belt). Has a new clutch at install and a JDM driver's seat. MANDALAY05-05-2010, 04:17 AM??????????
Who has free cash. What you have is a MR2 with a grey top in the engine bay
You have not got it running as i can see a lot of parts missing.
Up to you buddy.
Gee i hate uncompleted projects :( Ice05-06-2010, 12:50 AMYeah, me too. Only thing worse is a car just sitting there for 2 more years. Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
