Oteck     $ 15.00 Rough Idle So my car runs... not too well and only for 9 secs. Right now im having issues w/ the rough idle. when i hit it to 2k rpm it seems fine like. I know not having the 3rd O2 sensor can't cause this, its only there to tell if the cat is working. Other than a vacuum leak what else would cause poor idle? Toysrme     $ 0.00 This is pretty much for all the engines.
If it won't idle, start with cleaning the IAC EGR & throttle body.

IAC, EGR, vacuum leak, sticking throttle plate, dirty MAF (Not a problem if you have an AFM), TPS sensor pretty far out of adjustment.
Poor spark (Plugs / dizzy cap & rotor).

Speaking of which... I'm just gunna copy my wont' run guide over. AIM/Yahoo/ICQ - Toysrme257th

Oteck     $ 15.00 my intake is as clean as it ever will be so i don't think its that (no sluge anywhere). i'll check the iac though
Right now i have 2 maf so i'll switch them and see if theres any difference. And whats a dizzy cap? :P

Also does the ECTS have anything to do w/ it? i pulled out my resistor box cuz it may turn out to be ineffecient. Don't want that thing starting a fire Reply With Quote 08-03-2006, 07:21 PM #5 Newbiewan View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Blog Entries Visit Homepage Mike King - Marietta, GA Join Date Jul 2005 Location Marietta, GA Posts 41 Thanks  0 Thanks  0 Thanked in0 Posts Total Contributions For
Newbiewan     $ 0.00 I had a similar issue after my install. I installed the throttlebody gasket upside down, which led to a hidden vacuum leak. I'm sure you are not as dense as me, so you probably did not do the same But, the way I found it was by running water over the different vacuum connections with a waterhose. Stopped looking when the idle improved and the slurping noises started!

Another clue that you have a vacuum leak will be that your MAF/AFM signal will be lower than what it should be at idle. (not sure if it would be noticable w/ AFM though - no experience) ____________________________________________

V6'er     $ 0.00 Just pull the MAF connector. It will run fine without it, just never in Closed Loop. DaveMush     $ 0.00 keep in mind guys tht he is running the vvti 1MZ intake manifold, MAF, ECU and electronics.... on a 3MZ block with 3MZ injectors...

that opens up a whole diff can of worms.

My guess is your fuel mix is all wrong.

Blitzo     $ 0.00 The tranny solenoids should not put you into limp mode. I run without the resistors about 50% of the time with no change in performance.

Hook up the code scanner and scour all the data parameters like Sherlock Holmes. Look for long and short term trim, temps, air flow rates - everything. Something should pop up.

I was able to run up to 12 ohms on the 5.6 ohm variety solenoid outputs without throwing codes (2GR, though - have not tested the 1MZ yet - need to get it running again first). Put the signal on a scope and see if it's spitting out a PWM signal or just steady state. Six cylinders of fury. 3VZ-FE     $ 0.00 Wrong ecu=wrong fuel mix, would also guess that's where your problem is. You should try tuning it somehow (piggy or standalone). A 3.0L and a 3.3 don't use the same VE tables. If the injectors are different sizes, you get wrong pulsewidth from ecu also. What was the problem with the 3mz ecu? Last edited by 3VZ-FE; 08-16-2006 at 08:56 AM. Weasy2k     $ 0.00 Whats the use of VE tables when the MAF values and the O2 values will correct?
Compensation maps my friend

The only trhing i still worry about is TIMING....that is affected when a change of displacment is made... 3VZ-FE     $ 0.00 Hmmm, good point.. But the pulse width would be too long with bigger injectors than the ecu knows '90 SW20 - 3VZ-FTE - MS'n'Edis (dd-car summerseason)

Weasy2k     $ 0.00 if the ecu doesnt like it
he will get a code that will tell him the fuel trim is off

The ecu will inject say 10ms and then the o2 sensor will go **** TO MUCH FUEL...the ecu will trim trim trim trim...until the O2 says SWEET perfect.

if it has to trim over 20% then the ecu will throw a CEL Reply With Quote 08-18-2006, 11:11 AM #18 Node View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Blog Entries Visit Homepage Mild Steel = Big Gains Join Date Feb 2005 Location WNC Posts 1,277 Thanks  0 Thanks  15 Thanked in15 Posts Total Contributions For
Node     $ 0.00 I thought that the long term fuel trim max on an OBDII ECU was only +/- 15% Maybe you could just use an FMU to get the ECU within a range it can handle? That way you can maintain the correct timing by adjusting the fuel pressure rather than playing with a piggyback or different injector sizes. FOR SALE:__ SKYLINE RB25DE-T S13 300dyno WHP!

Oteck     $ 15.00 well weasy had a chance to check it out, i tried putting a noise filter in but it didn't do much at all earlier it turned out the fuel pressure was too high but still didn't solve it, it set to 40psi atm on the ebay fpr. Im not quite impressed w/ it's accuracy but having that diagnostic tool sure helps User Garage
