3sgtepower     $ 0.00 I got a million ghetto stories taht the previous owners did to my car, if you liked that one.

The guy who wired my stereo system used nice expensive equipment, like focal door speakers $150 in stores, as well as an eclipse 32440 800watt rms amplifier which was probably around $600 when he bought it.
After spending easily what was $750 or so on all this equipment, when wiring the door speakers he decided not to put it through the plastic tube between the door and the car, which caused the wiring to break after repeated opening and closings of the door over years, which blew the amplifier when it grounded itself out on the door.

I had to pay $80 to fix it, and rewired it correctly myself.

ANother one, I received the car, the guy drove it 150 miles from southeast missouri to stlouis to get it to me so I could test drive it. On the test drive I noticed a grinding scraping sound when I braked. It was the brakepads down to the metal, scoring the rotors. He actually drove the car this way for a long time apparently. What could have been $11 to fix with new $2 pads and $3 worth of brake fluid, was then $91 to fix since I had to get all new disc rotors as well as new pads and brake fluid.

Apparently the previous owner thought it was ok to drive around for years with blown struts. We could tell they had been blown for years when we pulled them apart.
The struts were so ravaged with rust, my mechanic told me they were the hardest struts he ever had to replace. we pounded on each strut for 30- 1 hour with a hammer and chisel, to try to get the strut to release its rusty grip from the shock tower. The steering wheel was hard to turn because the bearings on the strut mounts were absolutely ravaged with rust. After doing all that work, trust me, go with a TEIN setup thats is 100x easier to install than my kyb agx strut cartridges were. the easier install alone should be worth the extra money for the vastly superior setup.

Yea, I got a lot of ghetto stories, this car was probably the most ghetto mr2 turbo at one time. Last edited by 3sgtepower; 07-01-2006 at 10:33 AM. Raptor13x     $ 0.00 Some ghetto things I've done:

*I bought an MR2 that had a badly damaged hood that wouldn't close, so I just took it off and drove the car with no hood for weeks.

*I brought an engine and transmission home in my 2. The Pontiac V6 engine fit dissassembled into the trunk, and since the hood was missing, I just tossed the big automatic transmission into the frunk and drove the car home with it sticking halfway out.

*Covered my friend's Corsica entirely in duct tape, because paint was too expensive and duct tape was more fun. We also manufactured a wooden wing and screwed it to the trunk lid. The wing had about a 35 degree angle to it.

*Attempted to use a pull start from a snowblower on my RX-7 in an effort to save weight. (which didn't work)

*On said RX-7, I removed the whole interior including the dashboard, so the whole thing was just bare metal, removed all the windows including the rear hatch, aside from the windshield, duct taped the instrument cluster to the steering column, removed the hood, removed the entire wiring harness and wired the whole car up with minimum wires and switches across the firewall, and removed the bumper reinforcements and zip-tied the bumper covers to the car, all to save weight. You would not believe how fast a bone stock 12a rotary can move a stripped out RX-7.

*Also on that RX-7, two of the rear suspension links rusted out, so I just removed them, so every time you hit the gas the rear axle moved backwards about 3 inches, then forward again. I proceeded to race the car well after this happened, beating many Mustangs.

*Also on that RX-7, the exhaust system fell off, so I just replaced it from right after the exhaust manifold with a $20 muffler that I just clamped on and used a coathanger to hold up.
