no2nate     $ 0.00 M/R enthusiast Hey everyone. I am a previous owner of a 1989 Toyota MR2 NA.
I loved the way that it drove and felt, but sadly it was short lived. I bought it at a price of arround $1,500. it had arround 150K miles on it already. I did a few things to fix it up and make it look a little sportier. After owning it for a few months I drove it home all the way from Chicago where I purchased it at. My sister was looking for a first car and it was in her price range. I knew that
the car would not last me very much longer and my sis needed a car so I sold it to her for the same price (and she got the mods that I put on for free).
Well, that didnt last long. She never checks or changes the oil so she ended up throwing a rod and selling the MR2 as a parts car.

I am now the current owner of

a 1984 Nissan 300ZX (3.0 V6, an old hot rod that I am selling )

a 1997 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer (5.0 V8, my main ride)

and a 1991 Honda Civic (1.5 inline 4, my commuter car)

I know, I have too many vehicles but I am trying to sell them.
I am 22 years old and I am doing time in the Navy right now.
I am based in Everett Washington, but I am currently deployed on an aircraft carrier. I have an intrest in M/R Vehicles and am hopeing to get another one soon. Mister2.2     $ 0.00 Welcome to the board dude. Are you looking to buy another MK1, MK2 or MK3? How long until you are out of the Navy? no2nate     $ 0.00 I might be interested in a MK 2 or MK 3.
I took a look at the "Deal of the week" in your sig.
While I think that it is in excelent condition, I could never bring myself to pay that much over blue book value for a car that old. Im sure that A lot of
money went into mods but who wants to pay an extra $10 grand for those?
The only problem with MR2's is that they are always very overpriced
even at a used value. I would love to get one again but I would only
be willing to pay blue book value, plus some extra for nice modifications, but not the origional price of each mod. Mister2.2     $ 0.00 Actually they aren't overpriced at all. Considering you get performance of cars costing well over 40K on a car that was mostly under produced and depreciated.. It's a rather good investment as far as cars go.

The 1994 and 1995 years cost more than the previous because production rates were very low. You probably wont find many going for Blue Book Value as that value is pretty well off. The good news is when and if you decide to sell it you can sell it higher than BB pricing anyhow. Dumbscout     $ 0.00 yeah, and if you want to find a MR for blue book, get a MKIII. and with a turbo, you'd have a pretty quick, nimble car.

MR-Fixer     $ 0.00 I recently sold a Mk I with a blue book value of maybe $700. for $2800.

Unlike the Bible, the "blue book" is fallible. Reply With Quote 04-17-2006, 06:24 AM #7 no2nate View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Blog Entries too many cars Join Date Mar 2006 Posts 15 Thanks  0 Thanks  0 Thanked in0 Posts Total Contributions For
no2nate     $ 0.00 I can understand paying a little more for a 94 or 95 turbo.
but I see it all the time. I go to the classifieds and all I see is a bunch of mostly stock 91 MR2s for 10 grand, which is rediculious.
I was looking into getting another 89 SC with 90K miles, small mods like a racing clutch, it had a differant colored hood, because the hood was salvaged
from another MR2. Get this, the guy wanted $4,500!!!
See what I mean? the car booked at $1,800 and he wants more than double the price. People think that their MR2s are priceless relics, while in reality
they are depriciating vehicles, just like every other car. Dont get me wrong,
they are unique and a blast to drive, but they should be priced fairly when being sold. mr2slow4you     $ 0.00 From what I see most mk2's are priced fairly. I rarely see bone stock high mileage 91's going for 10 grand. I don't think that 6-8k for a really nice 93+ turbo with decent mileage is all to much. Mister2.2     $ 0.00 I hope the prices stay at LEAST where they are, if not rise. The cars have already depreciated. They have all the attributes of a collectors car and I have no doubt the prices will jump a good bit down the road.

If you don't think it's fair to pay $4,500 for a 89 SC then simply don't pay it! Find another one for less money or buy another car.
