mk1matt     $ 0.00 whats your exhaust setup? ok im looking at the HKS exhaust at nopi but was wondering what everyone else is using, what it costs and how it sounds. I need something that will pass emissions and wont make my car sound like rice. thanks for feedback. CpuZapper     $ 0.00 Well, I guess just be glad you don't live in Cali. IIRC, we don't have to have CARB stickers (or certification) for our exhausts as long as it passes the sniffer test. Basically you're going to want some kind of cat-back system, but don't expect much in terms of power gain. I only know of one exhaust that has shown to improve power, and that's the Janspeed, which last I heard is only available through Toysport which has been said to have terrible service. I built an exhaust system for mine mainly because of the exhaust installed by the PO. My old exhaust was a 2.5" In, 2.25" Dual Outlet Flowmaster 40 series that, while it sounded great, was horribly loud. I mean, like ear-bleeding loud. People could hear me cruising (4th gear, 25mph, idling) from at least 1/10 of a mile (distance from my old house to the road). My new exhaust is a Summit 2.5" 18" long glasspack attached to a 2.5" Thrush Super Turbo with no cat. Won't pass smog, but it sounds pretty good. It's quiet, but at the same time has the same sort of echoing growl as many NA sportscars (think Boxter S). It sounds even better with a turbo breathing into it, but I think I'm going to just use a single resonator and go SRT-4 style instead. I'll put up some sound clips when I get a chance. Dylan Hooker

mk1matt     $ 0.00 thanks. not looking for power gains really. Just want to replace the old crap exhaust and get a upgraded one while I do it. will this exhaust bolt right up? the one in the picture only has one pipe while the actual stock header splits into two...... TheAmazingDave     $ 0.00 Everything is stock before the catalytic converter. I have a high-flow cat installed which has a U bend into a Magnaflow oval style muffler. It is 4"X9"X14" with 2.5" inlet/outlet. I have everything in the stock location. It is all painted flat black with a pretty dual chrome tip.

Yes, I know the welds are horrible.

And for ****s 'n giggles here's some in-car audio with the Magnaflow setup on the GZE with Nevo overdrive pulley.

C.Jackson     $ 0.00 If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg you could look at the Thrush Turbo mufflers at Advance Auto Parts, they are only $20. I have one on my 87' N/A and it sound good, it's not that loud at idle, but you can tell a big difference when you rack up some RPMs .

But in the future I'm going to work on the exhaust, because it's just not loud enough for me..... Last edited by C.Jackson; 03-22-2006 at 10:25 PM.
