thwam     $ 0.00 5VZ Shim Under Bucket Conversion? Is there any conversion for the 5VZ to convert it to shim under bucket, similar to the 3SGTE conversion using the MRS parts? I bet that would help with the reliability of raising the redline. Thanks!

Node     $ 0.00 Yea, I think weasy is working on that. But the buckets are not the issue with the redline. The valve springs are just not strong enough. Replace those and you are good for at least aother 2K rpm FOR SALE:__ SKYLINE RB25DE-T S13 300dyno WHP!

thwam     $ 0.00 I know the springs are the main issue, but I'd hate to raise the redline and then kick a bucket. =) Reply With Quote 03-03-2006, 12:13 PM #4 Weasy2k View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Blog Entries What is an MR2? Weasy2k     $ 0.00 Valve springs rrived yesterday... 24 valve springs will be going for $200 starting...as soon as i get my bulk order in.
The main issue is valve springs...i doubt you will kick out shims if your valve springs can keep the lifter against the cam through the whole cycle.

A little tid bit:
Stock 5vz springs are rated to handle no more then stock redline with anything over 10-12psi. People do it...but are flirting with disaster!

I also have 1mz springs too
and 1uz

These things are STIFFFFF Reply With Quote 03-03-2006, 12:26 PM #5 Node View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Blog Entries Visit Homepage Mild Steel = Big Gains Join Date Feb 2005 Location WNC Posts 1,277 Thanks  0 Thanks  15 Thanked in15 Posts Total Contributions For
