JCBMR2     $ 0.00 Mark 2 Warning Lights - Help? My Mr2 has developed a fault with the following warning lights coming on;
Battery Discharge, Engine Cooling fan, low Oil level.
All 3 used to flicker on and off for a day and now are on all the time.
Somebody said it was oil that could have dripped down from the oil filler cap (if i spilt a bit whilst topping up which is likely) and getting into the alternator. Have the car on a jig and can get to the Alternator but i really don't wanna take it out to clean it. Have sprayed with WD40 (will that remove any oil?), is my alternator knackered??
Please help!!! Reply With Quote 09-28-2005, 09:31 AM #2 canadam View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Blog Entries MidshipExpress Join Date Feb 2005 Location Beautiful British Columbia Posts 11,227 Thanks  122 Thanks  173 Thanked in150 Posts Blog Entries1 Total Contributions For
canadam     $ 0.00 Usually when you have a charging system problem, you get the battery (alternator) light, along with the emergency brake light. I haven't seen those 3 lights on together in a Toyota I don't think, maybe someone else has.

You understand that WD-40 is just a light oil, right ? Hopefully you haven't saturated the alternator with it, I've never heard of that being a fix. Parts for sale: German Radio Trim -- Dandism Glass -- '98+ Steering Wheel -- K-Sport Endlinks -- TRD HIDs -- TRD FPR -- and more!!!

Luni     $ 0.00 Alternator going bad will make both oil level sensor lights and the battery light to come on and be on at the same time. I woudlnt recommend a rebuild. I had one rebuilt and it didnt work right. I bought one from toyota and it took care of my issue.

You have powersteering or not? Thats a HUGE price factor. If you need a line to a discount at a toyota dealership drop me a line at qwst_rcjones@msn.com. I can get you the alt for cheaper than partznet without a core charge I believe. 91 Crimson Red MR2 Turbo

USN CHIEF     $ 0.00 alternator removal/ rear axle Guys, I had an oil leak on my 91t that seeped into the alternator also. The mechanic removed the right rear axle to get it out. Doing the he removed it from the rotor, but then removed the bolts in the center of the shaft and all the ballbearing fell out. then he remove the other half from the gear box. My question is, and I believe I already know the anser, did he have to remove the center bolts? He is trying to tell me that it was necessary and since the bearings fell out it was a bad axle. Which is roughly $500 from the local dealer. I think I'm getting the shaft here. I havent paid him yet. What do you guys think?
