yikes     $ 0.00 radio wiring fixed the radio on my autox car today. Luckily I had two spares because I eventually found out that the left channel was weak, I could only hear the left speaker when I turned the right speaker completely off. But in the process of changing radioes, I went through the wiring. Below is what I ended up with and it works.

The plug on the radio has a top row of 5 wires and a bottom row of 3 wires:

radio wires from harness
green connect to green
black " red
brown " white/with black stripe(this is ground)
purple " white/with red
blue " red/with black stripe

bottom
gray " pink/with black also brown wire from clock
pink " yellow with red
lt green " red

I have no idea why the wires from the harness are different than what comes out of the radio, but on the three that I have worked on they all were that way.
If you have a different experience, please post it here. Reply With Quote 06-27-2005, 10:04 AM #2 Hlugo View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Blog Entries Finally Boosting! Woot!! Hlugo     $ 0.00 What year is the car? I heard there are slight variations in some years. yikes     $ 0.00 Thanks. This is for an 85 or 86. Yes I've heard that the 87,88,89 are slightly different, but I don't know what the differences are.
BTW, I hate it when guys don't put in the year of car in a post, so I think I'll go get some electric shock therapy so that I won't forget again.
