View Full Version : CRW billet CT20b now available!

mister312-28-2013, 06:51 PMwe have been working on this for a little bit and have come up with a really nice CT20b upgrade.

currently available:

CT20b STAGE 1 : stock size billet wheel, inconel turbine wheel, upgraded seals and berings, massaged exhaust housing.

the stage1 upgrade will be good for 25-50+whp over what a normal ct20b is capable of.

**billet compressor wheel is lighter and has a much smaller center hub which makes the blades longer within the same space the stock wheel uses so catches and pushes more air. the stock ct20b has been pushed hard to 350+whp and i see no reason at all that the billet wheel won't allow for 400whp or more. the compressor wheel itself should be capable of 400-450whp

**inconel turbine wheel MUCH better than the stock ceramic turbine wheel. will take much more abuse and higher boost levels without issue. no more spitting the wheels out!

**upgraded seals and bearings great for prolonged high boost use (E85 FTW!)

**massaged turbine housing helps the most restricted portion of the turbo flow better. yes the ct20b exhaust housing/turbine wheel flows better than a CT26 but with improved compressor wheel flow the exhaust needs to be matched accordingly. stock configuration good for 350whp pushed hard and modified will yield 50+whp additional headroom.

PRICE: $950 shipped + core charge (varies according to core cost i pay. can be anywhere from $175 to $500)

-- UPGRADED billet wastegate actuator is available for $135. this is excellent for high boost applications. can choose your wastegate spring PSI rating (we recommend 14psi)

** as a purchaser you need to send in the core to be rebuilt and core must be rebuildable. do not sent the oil feed and return lines with the turbo. do not send the turbo support bracket in with the turbo.

** when installing NO SILICONE is to be used during the install process. we will provide a new oil feed/return flange gasket @ turbo CHRA. if you choose to use silicone anywhere except water ports on the turbo warranty will be VOID.

**we HIGHLY recommend PROFESSIONAL installation.

** 1 year warranty from time of purchase ** restrictions do apply** mister312-28-2013, 07:25 PMhttp://i944.photobucket.com/albums/ad287/mdrcypressmulch/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_5498_zpssdmidmpg.jpg (http://s944.photobucket.com/user/mdrcypressmulch/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_5498_zpssdmidmpg.jpg.html)

Looks like a good option for the CT20B, and essentially gives people a rebuildable option vs throwing it away. I know in the UK someone has been doing metal wheel CT20B's for awhile, but it's nice to see someone offer a CT20B upgrade and rebuild stateside!!! mister312-30-2013, 05:41 PMi just can't wait to get it dyno'd here within the nest week or so! drake2212-30-2013, 05:45 PMi just can't wait to get it dyno'd here within the nest week or so!

Me neither!!

294whp @ 17psi

stock CT20b, stock turbo elbow w.gutted cat (blitz decat), custom single exit exhaust, gen4 engine. at 294whp AFR was pig rich

we figured out the "boost creep" issue.... was using a supra MAP sensor on the caldina so at 11psi MAP was reading 18psi. swapped MAP sensor and good to go now lol. first pull with supra MAP it cut out at 6500rpm and made 215whp

tomorrow will be running the billet CT20.

any guesses on WHP #s now that we have a baseline? CJMR2T01-19-2014, 02:56 AM260 and 310 are my guess's....... drake2201-19-2014, 03:06 AM260 and 310 are my guess's.......

I'm going to be a bit more optimistic. 275 and 325 are mine.

Keep in mind tha it wont really be a valid / good comparison unless conditions are virtually the same as they were when you got your baseline CT20b numbers mister301-19-2014, 08:42 PMi'm quite aware of that. hopefully weather won't change much by the time we get back on there fellMR201-30-2014, 10:11 PMwhat is the turn around time for this? or is it still in testing phase? mister301-31-2014, 06:10 PMwhat is the turn around time for this? or is it still in testing phase?
Takes a couple day turn around usually unless we run out of parts on hand. Right now good to go and can send it in whenever you want for the upgrade.

Only testing left to be done is just dyno #s for a stock to modded comparison. Plenty of these are on the streets already fellMR202-03-2014, 04:21 PMAny idea how this compares to the disco potato gt2860rs? VancityTurbo02-03-2014, 04:28 PMPlanning to test this on a Gen 2 and Gen 3? I'd be interested in this for my gen 2 as right now my only option is a stock rebuilt ct26 or an ats ct27 arber021402-03-2014, 04:30 PMCan you make the waste gate arm adjustable, just like this one.http://www.pbase.com/image/22312910.jpg
It will allow for adjustments without the need of a boost controller. CJMR2T02-03-2014, 06:42 PMCan you make the waste gate arm adjustable, just like this one.http://www.pbase.com/image/22312910.jpg

One potentially simple solution for that would be to use an aftermarket adjustable arm actuator from Garrett or other reputable source with a custom mount bracket. CJMR2T02-03-2014, 06:52 PMBack to the "testing" that I'd be intersted in seeing is a turbine inlet pressure to compressor outlet ratio comparison betweeb the two turbos plotted against the engines useful rpm range. This would really give a good direct comparison to the merits of one over the other since a direct back to back comparison was not done. Obviously though, this would require a datalogging box thar has an rpm input and two channels for pressure sensors (which is easy to come by).

This also would knock out another potential question of spool characteristics of each turbo in real rpm vs pressure scale / overlay. mister302-16-2014, 07:47 PMAny idea how this compares to the disco potato gt2860rs?

the stock ct20b performs the same as the GT28RS. the upgraded CT20b will outperform the GT28rs

might do a gen3 test as we can raise boost pressure over 17psi and run a higher redline to see if HP/TQ start falling off before 7800-8k rpm

as for gen2 test.... if convenient. basic premis for dyno esting is that you have a direct comparison regardless of engine which will show any gains or losses

we do offer the kinugawa billet wastegate actuator which has a adjustable arm and changeable springs for whatever boost pressure you want for $130 extra or $135 shipped by itself mister302-16-2014, 07:58 PMBack to the "testing" that I'd be intersted in seeing is a turbine inlet pressure to compressor outlet ratio comparison betweeb the two turbos plotted against the engines useful rpm range. You have my attention.... get some results in! mister303-07-2014, 08:58 PMhoping to get it back on the dyno this weekend mister303-15-2014, 08:44 PMJust got off the dyno. Stock ct20b vs CRW billet ct20b both at 17.5psi

What are the mods? mister303-15-2014, 10:23 PMmods should be in first post.........

91 MR2, gen4 swap, stock ct20b turbo elbow with Blitz decat (aka gutted cat), random JDM single exit exhaust (3"), greddy style sidemount intercooler, turbo XS MBC (ball/spring version), still on "stock" JDM spark plugs which came with the engine lol

the dynos were done at different times and today was a good 15 degrees warmer than the first time we had it on the rollers making the 295whp

once i get the run files emailed to me i'll graph them up and get them posted up. was hard to take a good pics of the graph with computer screen they had there 3SGTEvil03-22-2014, 05:18 PMMy only concern, Will this turbo make 400whp safely on a 3rd gen 3sgte with supporting mods of course. If so I will be buying one shortly. mister303-22-2014, 08:09 PMfor added insurance i'd go the stg1.5 compressor wheel for 400whp. would help make the power easier with less stress on everything 3SGTEvil03-23-2014, 12:02 AMSo is the stage 1.5 offered at this time? And what is the price of it? mister303-23-2014, 02:44 AMSo is the stage 1.5 offered at this time? And what is the price of it?

drop me a email and i'll get you the info monday josh@garageCRW (dot) com SwiftyMcVae03-24-2014, 01:21 PMDo you guys have a site or something dedicated for this? I currently have a 20b with blown seals. Im currently debating on whether or not to send my CT26 to ATS for the CT27 upgrade or have my 20b Upgraded. Id be leaning more towards you guys for the 20b upgrade, seeing as how my 20b is already out of my car. mister303-24-2014, 06:58 PMNo don't have a site dedicated to this. Have my website which doesn't get messed with much as it's easier to post stuff here for now

But yeah.... I think it would he better to upgrade the ct20b as the ct27 is comparable to the stock 20b arber021403-25-2014, 09:16 AMWell, i know where to go when my Ct20b shatters, and of course i would get the adjustable actuator since i am not a big fan of having extra parts in my engine bay. :D mr2na03-25-2014, 09:36 AMHi mister3,

Is there an option to purchase these if we don't have a core? Thanks.

Frank mister303-25-2014, 01:05 PMHi mister3,

I believe you sent me a email regarding this? Afdad12010803-28-2014, 07:35 AMI believe you sent me a email regarding this?

I sure did I'm will be getting one of these from you hopefully eh beginning of next week just have to wait for the funds to be loaded to my paypal account. Thanks so much! MittyR208-29-2018, 01:54 AMok been thinking about getting this 91 turbo and thinking about getting the CRW ct20B stage 1 or 1.5. My question is can I run this turbo on the gen 1 motor with nothing but the turbo, downpipe and exhaust and boostcontroller. Along with a jdm ecu too at say 17psi and be safe>??
On a side note, same question goes out as if I buy a gen4 calcina 3sgte, have those mods, will I need fuel and new ecu at that psi??
Can i even get a CRW ct20b 1.5 anymore, i noticed this last post was awhile ago. If not I am looking at the ATS sweet 16 turbo>? Anyone have any thoughts? mister308-29-2018, 12:19 PMwe still do build these turbos so no worries there -- we do the gen4 CT15 billet upgrades as well.

it's perfectly fine to run these on a gen2/3 3sgte and if you have 93 octane available 17psi shouldn't be a problem at all-- always good to have a wideband available just in case. if you start to go lean then you know you're at the limits of your fuel system so can back off the boost if needed. once you want to start cranking up the boost more then you may have to go after ecu and fuel mods but that would be around 275whp gen2 and 325-350whp gen3/4 Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc.
