View Full Version : Gen3 fcd? Or alternative

1stgen11-20-2013, 12:20 AMProlly in the wrong area...but has anyone had success with any of the FCDs for a gen 3? I tried using an aem fic-6 with maf clamp, an emanage ultimate with boost limit cut and and both iterations from his and greddy. I even fabbed up a few clamp type from radio shack. But have yet to find something that is consistent.

As of now I have a manual boost controller setup on the map line to vent of pressure in excess of 16psi but it is currently only good up to around 22 psi when the physical dimensions will not allow the volume of air needed to still lower it to a useable map voltage range.

I had tried replacing the gen3 map with a gm 3 bar, as the values do scale somewhat correctly to eliminate fuel cut, but it won't start or idle because of the much lower off boost voltages... CJMR2T11-20-2013, 09:06 AMYou might be able to get the GM 3bar to work if you go to bigger injectors to offset the lower voltage scale. The problem though is timing is going to be advanced more also cause of the lower PIM signal voltage.

In all honesty though, if you are to the point that you want to pass the OE ECU boost limit point, you should going to an aftermarket full standalone ECU. 1stgen11-20-2013, 12:02 PMYou might be able to get the GM 3bar to work if you go to bigger injectors to offset the lower voltage scale. I currently have 680cc injectors and was able to run them pretty efficiently on just tuning with fuel pressure. idle/cruise are nearly perfect at 14.2-15.4 afr. on low boost levels (6psi and under) it runs steady 11.3-11.6. Higher than that and the ecu is just dumping fuel with AFRs pegged at 10-11. This was on boost from around 13 psi-30psi (30 psi because I had a timing gear slip to 8* retarded exhaust) with no signs of knock...

Full stand alone is an option as I should just sell the emanage and FIC-6 and throw in the towel. (wasn't able to control 1280cc injectors at idle for my E85 setup)

Mabye if I turn up the fuel pressure the GM map will work better at idle/low rpm.... Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
