View Full Version : Stupid fuel injectors! What the hell was toyota thinking?

Node09-12-2006, 08:09 PMSince im mere hrs away from my first attempt at starting and running the "wraith" I decided I should finish up the fuel system today.

Well I finally got around to install-eerrrr, attempting to install my fuel rails and run the oversized fuel lines (support for 1200 hp worth of fuel  ) anyway, I come to find I cant use the stock injectors at all with my setup. Apparently toyota used some weird ass undersized injectors so that the rails would clear that ugly serpant of an intake they used. I was hopeing to use the stockers to establish a nice clean base map to base my larger injector and possibly staged injector maps on. Im mainly pissed because the rails sit a full 1" higher with REAL injectors compaired with these crap ass toyota injectors. The issue is that the rail will now interfear with the location I was using for port water injection. I guess I should have considered that possibility but who is going to figure that there will be a specialized injector just for the 5VZ heads? Bastards..

Why does toyota do shi t like this. Remember the hose from hell, its not just one or two of their engines either. God im pissed right now, I just had to vent mr2greasemonkey09-12-2006, 08:36 PMUmmm........yeah........you gonna need to be more creative........I'm kinda workin on step number 4( more power) right now in-between step number 1( more traction) and 2( better suspension). I'll let ya know if my idea works, heeh! Anyhow, keep up the good work. Jay-Spec109-12-2006, 08:42 PMtrail and error my friend, and besides that your the great node u will figure it out. Node09-12-2006, 10:52 PMYea, I was just pissed at toyota engineers and needed to vent.

It is just like toyota though, "hey, rather than make an intake manifold that will fit over redily available inexpensive parts lets make custom injectors for this one motor." Its like re-inventing the wheel LOL mr-355-5sfte09-12-2006, 11:02 PMit's like toyota making the wheel square simply because if it was round... it would roll easier.

eh. you'll make it work.... throw someting at the neighbors cat... that always helps. Weasy2k09-12-2006, 11:57 PMwth....what rail/engine year?
what you mean by stock?

There are 2 different stock injector years maybe you hhave wrong one? Dance_Business09-13-2006, 12:41 AMI am wishing you better times with this issue! I am still waiting for my ecu... But it still runs great right now. trdny09-13-2006, 09:29 PMRail? is this the wolfkatz rail? Please say it is and they are ready.

O.T. Got any videos for me? Weasy2k09-13-2006, 09:48 PMshoudl be WK's rail :) Node09-14-2006, 12:24 PMYea, they are the WK rails. Very nice BTW, top notch fabrication and engineering BTW. They are just designed for real aftermarket injetors. The problem most of you will run into is that with aftermarket injectors they wont fit under the stock plenum. Thats not WK's fault though. From the video that follows you can see that the rails fit very well on TRDNY's gourgous engine a few weeks ago but, the mounting tabs will need to be Z shaped in order for the bolts to clear the much larger rails.

Anyway, check em out. http://www.mr2board.com/files/members/node/5VZ.WMV thwam09-14-2006, 04:40 PMIs there a problem with the stock rails that would warrant moving to using aftermarket ones? Weasy2k09-14-2006, 06:36 PMhehe good work node :) i love the manifold! Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
