View Full Version : Trailer hitch?

87MR24RX11-27-2012, 08:33 PMDon't suppose anyone has a hitch on theirs? I need to transport 4 rally tires and tools to events, and a few guys with Miata's have utility trailers from Harbor Freight. jon11911-28-2012, 06:19 PMDo a search, the info is out there. I have a hitch that I'll eventually repaint and install on my 89SC.

Good luck!

Jon mr2tim11-28-2012, 10:57 PMPut mine in right after I bought the Kaminari bumper spoiler. (I pull my SC relay to tow so the SC doesn't stay engaged at highway speeds.) Here you see my bicycle carrier in the 2" receiver.

You RallyX ?? 87MR24RX11-29-2012, 08:06 AMI've been searching, no luck. U-Haul offered to make one for free if I drove to Phoenix AZ (right), or anywhere from $500-1000 if they make it without me and could take up to a couple months. Gee thanks. I'd love to see the underneath, and any tips on where to find them! And yes, my last event for the year is this weekend, can't wait! Iroke11-29-2012, 05:32 PMDo you own or have access to a welder? 87MR24RX11-29-2012, 08:51 PMThe garage I have work done can weld. Here's U-Haul's reply:
Unfortunately U-Haul's vendors do not supply a hitch for the 1987 Tpyota MR2

If you can bring your vehicle to our location in Tempe, AZ we can build you a free hitch to custom fit your vehicle.

If not, we can build a custom hitch and ship to the location nearest you. The deposit runs anywhere from $450 to $1000 depending on the make and model. If this is something of interest, please contact Michael_Leon@uhaul.com or Dustin_Clark@uhaul.com and we can begin the build process. The build can take anywhere from 2 weeks to a few months, depending on how quickly we can locate the same vehicle to build around.

(Wish I knew someone in Phoenix that could get me a free hitch, I'd give them $100 for the effort) Iroke11-30-2012, 12:27 AMhitches are quite simple to make if you know how to weld and can get the metal. i made one for a Ford Taurus for a guy at work wasent hard.
