View Full Version : Beams For Sale: Idle Control Valve and TPS

MANDALAY10-17-2012, 12:41 AMAs stated , now i have an Idle control valve for sale of my Red Top as i have changed it.
Also a fully funtioning TPS but the holding clip slightly broken but was on my car for 4 years no issues

ICV $150
TPS $55

PLUS paypal fee and shipping ccarolan12-03-2013, 07:40 PMhi mandalay,
i know this post is now a year old, but do you still have the ICV available? i have yet to pull mine down, but may need a new one if all else fails.
rgds, chris MANDALAY12-03-2013, 08:51 PMI believe so but need to check as i have stored away all my spare parts ccarolan12-04-2013, 01:51 AMThat would be great if it's not too much trouble. No desperate rush at this stage - as I said I have yet to pull off the throttle body & check the ICV before I know whether it is just gummed up or completely dead.
Idle speed is constantly around 1500±.
i don't have the detailed reference for the resistance readings for the throttle position sensor, but it appears to be have a variable resistance of some sort. The reference i have is for the standard TPS with four pins rather than the beams one which has three!
Chris ccarolan12-13-2013, 02:09 AMhi mandalay,
i removed the throttle body this afternoon and removed the ICV - it looks like only the open solenoid is working, and not very well either as it returns to almost closed position from what i can see. did you have a chance to search through your parts to see if you still had the ICV 'cos i think i'm going to need it!
also one of the water inlet/outlet pipes was also chocka - i presume this is for cooling the whole assembly, so maybe that's what caused the failure in the first place?
rgds, chris Roman12-25-2013, 08:30 PMThose throttle body coolant pipes are for HEATING the throttle body - So in cold climates it doesnt ice up and jam your throttle open.

If you live anywhere reasonably warm, you can just loop them off and be done with it. ccarolan12-26-2013, 02:27 AMHi Roman, that is very useful information as i expect even here in TAS i could get away without de-icing! This also widens the possible replacement parts as there are a number of similar ICVs with differing pipe configurations - even a Camry one with no pipes.
I have actually rotated the stepper motor housing to keep the valve as closed as possible. The start-up idle is still about 1500, but drops to 1200 once a bit warm. I have even seen it drop to about 800 after sitting with the engine running waiting for someone the other day. Perhaps i will have to investigate the temp sensor(s) before worrying any more about the valve at this stage.
Perhaps it is just running too cool most of the time...
Thanks for your post.
Chris MANDALAY01-13-2014, 07:05 PMYes i agree that the lines are to warm up the Idle control valave BUT with the Red Top Beams, inline is a thermostate which WILL CLOSE the line once 63 degrees is reached.

So IMO leave them connected ccarolan01-13-2014, 10:28 PMi'd be happy to leave them connected once i find a working ICV.... ;-)

did you ever find the one you had for sale mandalay?
