Rae08-02-2006, 05:59 PMI was wondering if anyone knows were I can buy a set of Solo - Track tires with the "R" compound - this would be for a 91 MR2 - with stock rims.
I dont know if running different size tires will bump me to Street Prepared..any ideas - I have tried Tirerack and Discount Tire and Town Fair Tire?:) Gairloch08-02-2006, 06:02 PMI don't know where you're located but I know you can get Toyo RA-1s from Frisbee Tire out of Wisconsin. A friend of mine has ordered from them a couple of times and had a positive experience. Rae08-02-2006, 06:19 PMThanks I will call them tomorrow - I live in NH kbrew899108-07-2006, 05:26 PMDOT approved R-compound tires are one of the few allowed changes in stock class Rae08-07-2006, 06:40 PMThanks for the input - I have been unable to find any "Matched Pairs" to run stock sizes. I talked to a SCCA Tech guy and he said I can run any size tire as long as I use the Stock OEM size rims (as long as the tire spec fits the width)
I am thinking of going Kumho 225/55-14 - Ecsta V710's :) kbrew899108-07-2006, 06:53 PMthat is also true

those 225s will work on the rear but you'll need to find some 205s for the front however... or you won't be able to run nearly the amount of camber these cars need with stock springs Rae08-07-2006, 07:30 PMKumhos V710 - frnt 205/55-14, rears 225/50-14
According to the MR2 tire chart this would not be that bad... kbrew899108-07-2006, 07:31 PMthat'll be damn near perfect actually :)

I run Hoosiers only because I got a screaming good deal on em. my next set for autox will be 710s Rae08-07-2006, 07:37 PMThanks for your input - I just bought the car for AutoX and Club Racing - so getting the right stuff is a learning experience. kbrew899108-09-2006, 07:46 PMThanks for your input - I just bought the car for AutoX and Club Racing - so getting the right stuff is a learning experience.
