My original, sparkly-blue 1986 Toyota MR2 (AW11) with a freshly rebuilt engine.

Car summary:

The most important features of the MR2 were its light body, superior handling (even in the snow!) and lightly powered, small-displacement engine and rear wheel drive. The car is often referred to as the AW11 and is fairly quick while also getting great gas mileage. Other cars with a similar design concept including the Lancia Beta Montecarlo, Fiat X 1/9 and the exotic Lancia Stratos were all produced in the 70s and early 80s.

The press received the AW11 with open arms and praised its innovation, great feeling, and responsive engine. American car magazines >Road & Track and Car and Driver both chose the MR2 on their lists of ten best cars which included some tough competition, such as the Ferrari Testarossa. The Australian Wheels magazine chose the 1988 MR2 as its favourite sports car. The MR2 was Motor Trend's Import Car of the Year for 1985. The MR2 was also on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1986 and 1987. In 2004, Sports Car International ranked the MR2 number eight on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1980s

Car features:

Power windows
Power locks
Flip up headlights
Front and rear trunks (and working releases inside the car for both)
4 wheel disc brakes
Independent suspension on all four corners
Adjustable suspension geometry - toe-in/out, camber and caster on the front and rear! (Very rare on a street car, even today's sports cars aren't as adjustable from the factory)
Original Paint (meaning No hidden body work!! No bondo!!)
Great interior - 1 small crack in the dash. Seats and carpet are in great shape.
Working emergency brake

Engine features:

Freshly rebuilt (11K miles on the rebuild) straight 4 cylinder, 1.6L (1,587cc) naturally aspirated (not supercharged or turbo charged) 4AGE engine. It is a dual overhead-cam, 16 valve (4 valves per cylinder) engine equipped with electronic fuel injection and a variable intake geometry ("T-VIS"). The T-VIS system opens another set of intake ports for higher air flow in RPMs above 3500 (the engine redlines at 7500 RPM - much higher than other cars). Essentially (without getting into too much detail) increases the intake air speed down low for more low RPM power and then increases intake air volume up high for more high RPM power. Similar idea to VTEC on newer hondas (copy-cats). As a result, the MR2 is significantly faster than the four cylinder Pontiac Fiero or the Fiat X1/9.

By the way, this engine gets great gas mileage. I average 32mpg - even when I take trips up I-70 to ski! This is also the popular engine featured in AE86 Corollas - the drift machines that have become popular recently.

List of brand new items in this car:

Windshield
Fuel Pump
Fuel Filter
Transmission
Alternator
Bearings
Rods
Pistons
Freeze Plugs
Valves and Valve seals
Timing Belt
Timing Belt Tensioner
All Engine Gaskets
Oil Pump
Water Pump
Thermostate
Spark Plugs
Rotor Cap (on the distributor)
Studded WinterForce Snow Tires (5k miles)

Issues:

Broke off the bolt that allows you to tighten the alternator/waterpump belt. This will need to be tapped out and replaced with a new bolt - easy fix. I might even fix this before you see the car
Leaking oil from the Cam Gears and distributor area. Not enough to run you low on oil between oil changes but enough to leave drips while parked and get the engine bay dirty.
Driverside window's gear is missing a cog or two - it skips a few times going up with help needed in one spot. Going down it skips as well but does not need help.
Rust behind rear wheels on both sides and could use a paint job (as stated above, the paint is original)!

Overall, this is a very complete Toyota MR2 with 285K miles on the body (you'd never guess by the interior, accessories/features that are typically missing on these cars, and lack of dents) and 11K miles on the rebuilt engine. I am asking $1600. Did I mention this car comes with TONS of spare parts? Transmissions, ECUs, wiring harnesses, etc! I have BOXES of stuff!

Feel free to email me or call me (719) 640-8485. I will try to add some pictures of the interior, trunks, and engine to this tonight.
