View Full Version : My 1993 MR2 N/A(New to the forum)

StefanMR210-25-2011, 12:44 AMHi guys I am new to the forums, I never got around showing pics of my cars I just wanted show you guys how she looks. Its a 1993 mr2 stock around 137k miles when I did complete stops the mileage would go up for a few seconds owner told me thats a problem that he didn't fix,The only other problems is that the struts need to be replaced, and the oil pan gasket needs to be replaced and I need to but in a new ac compressor. But any way the guy I bought my mr2 from was nice enough me to give me new struts ac compresor and shock absorbers when I bought the car, I was thinking of replacing the struts myself(with two other friends)But i was wondering if it how long it would take and how diffcult it was:confused:. I toke my mr2 to a mechanic a few days ago and they said every thing was fine car runs smoothly, only problems are the problems I already knew about, the cost for them to repair the struts would be around 500$ and oil gasket would be around 150$ (So that why I want to repair them my self beacuse it would be alot cheaper). The owner already had some work done to the car(jdm lights, fog lights he said he replaced the with a new engine(I dont know what engine it is Doing my research  with 10k miles on the engine, added leather interior new brakes and rotors, and cams.So right now I am working geting the problems fix and then I was trying to decide what I should do next to my car. I wanted to get a new exhaust (Berk Technology Dual Exhaust Toyota MR2 Turbo 90-99)but I heard it only works with mr2 turbos because the pipes wouldnt fit on the n/a. I just loved how the berk technology sounded I was just wondering what other exhaust systems sound as good as berk technologys for n/a I heared about ems dual exhaust I liked that two.How much hp do you gain from replacing your exhaust and down pipe I heard its like around 10hp correct me if I am wrong.
Then I wanted to work on get gold rims :D. OK well thats It for Now Feed back would greatly be appreciated

Welcome to the club.

For starters, there is no 'oil pan gasket'. It's an adhesive that you bead on to the frame of the pan, wait 24 hours to set then refill your motor oil. The quote of $150 is dirt cheap to have this done, even mistakenly having to use a gasket.

Labor is between $300-$400 and material is about $12. MSAGRO10-25-2011, 12:04 PMOne more suggestion is to dye your floor mats black. 2 boxes of RIT dye in washing machine and soak for 20 mins, rinse and air dry. Dramatic improvement:

Are those trd gauge faces? How much did they cost you? ThatsMR2U10-25-2011, 07:27 PMWelcome to the board. Im actually in Royal Palm, but dont think ive ever seen your car before. As far as EMSPowered, look around the board and you'll see the issues everyone has been having. Maybe even look up campos, hes a user on this thread that I bought my exhaust from. I dont know if he still has any in stock but its exactly like the EMS one. Let me know what area youre in (PM if privacy is an issue) maybe I can look out for you. Thanks turbomr2, they are called "glo gauges" and they came with the car when I bought it. StefanMR210-26-2011, 12:26 AMWelcome to the club.

Wow I have never seen you either thanks for the welcome I am going to do more research so I can decide what exhaust to get, but I started to think about it more.If I get the emspowered would that be a waste of money because in the future I plan on swaping my engine for a 3stge turbo. So I was wondering if I should I just get the berk technology exhaust and down pipe and to try to get it fitted on my mr2 instead of geting emspowered exhaust and downpipe?Another question since I well be wont be swaping my engine right away. Do you guys think its a good idea to get new headers for my mr2 for some power?.Are instead of swaping my engine should I just get a turbo kit? beacuse some one told me that my engine should be able to handle the turbo.

Thanks turbomr2, they are called "glo gauges" and they came with the car when I bought it. ThatsMR2U10-26-2011, 01:13 AMLook through the forums. As far as I know the 5s wont handle the turbo without several upgrades. I think its more worth it to do the swap which is why I have one in progress. I say if your just looking to make some noise for now check out campos and see if he has anymore exhausts I wouldnt get anyome upgrades if your planning to swap to turbo, just save up. The car is still loads of fun to drive. Campos' kit is sold with the headers for the NA and when you swap to turbo you just take off the headers and it bolts up to my knowledge and its cheaper and youll get it in a timely fashion..... annnnnd its the same. Lol type emspowered in search and you will see what i mean. dropinthatclutch01-16-2013, 06:26 PMnice car man welcome to the board. your car is pretty clean! good luck with the car and have fun with it. mr2's for life. jasonhoward6401-16-2013, 09:18 PMNice car!
