View Full Version : Want to buy Beams: Beams intake and heat shield

Mr.beams07-31-2011, 03:26 AMI am looking for an aftermarket or original Beams MR2 intake if possible, and if someone has the Heat shield that would be perfect also... money is not that big of issue.. I just need these parts!!!!

PM me Preferred.. I will respond!! Mr.beams08-02-2011, 05:00 PMMan, I've seen soo many full beams swaps but how come I can't seem to find a factory intake or heat shield? Bolly08-02-2011, 05:18 PMI looked for several months for an OEM MR2 BEAMS airbox. Finally managed to find one a few weeks back, then bought new intake pipes from the cold air side of the filter from Toyota. So... you'll either have to be persistent with the searching, or buy brand new. Mr.beams08-02-2011, 08:46 PMIf I have to will a Factory NA 2.2 mr2 intake work or is it beams specific?? I know this has a MAF sensor and the Original NA's dont... Bolly08-02-2011, 10:14 PMIf you want to use a standard MR2 airbox, you'll need to graft a MAF mount section onto the the exit side of the box. I got that bit of pipe by cutting it from the Celica airbox that came with my Red Top. There's a photo on this page.

They come up for sale pretty regularly on there.

If you can come up with several hundred dollars, you could always by a new BEAMS one too. They're still available. Bolly08-03-2011, 05:40 AMIf you want to get the car on the road while you search for an OEM airbox setup, you could install a SARD EX+ filter which comes with a mounting pipe that the MAF bolts straight into.

SARD Sports EX Plus Top Intake Toyota (http://www.rhdjapan.com/sard-sports-ex-plus-top-intake-toyota-17645) Mr.beams08-03-2011, 11:02 PMMan ive seen thay sard intake setup before but one problem. I have no original intake piping at all... And im so sooo new to toyotas I dont know which parts cross over to what... Research time Mr.beams08-04-2011, 08:22 PMthis is all I can find atm... do you think this will work??

Toyota MR2 MK2 Air Filter Box & Pipes 3SGE 1993 UK Car | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-MR2-MK2-Air-Filter-Box-Pipes-3SGE-1993-UK-Car-/290591087092?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43a89419f4) Bolly08-05-2011, 11:26 PMIt looks like an 3SGE NA airbox, rather than a 3S-GTE turbo, which is a good start. You'd still need to get the rubber pipe that links the BEAMS airbox to the throttle body though, which means throwing away the rubber pipe on the eBay airbox, along with the resonator that's mounted off it.

You'll also need the piping that mounts on the cold air side of the airbox too.... and if you want to go all the way, the resonator tank that mount of the pipe between the airbox and the throttle body.

If you compare the diagrams here, you'll see the different parts and part numbers.

This is the non-BEAMS NA airbox stuff:

and this is the BEAMS Airbox:

Man haha hondas are so much easier haha, but im up for the challenge Mr.beams11-02-2011, 11:49 PMstill on the hunt for an intake!!!! this is redonkilous!!! Mr.beams11-03-2011, 11:18 PMmaybe I'll just go to a custom metal shop and have some shizzzznit fabbed up for me.... we will see tomrrow Mr.beams11-25-2011, 05:35 PMand this is the BEAMS Airbox:

Is the top assembly all I need or do I need the 1000's of dollars in parts it shows also??? richee311-25-2011, 07:24 PMDepends. I assume you have an MR2? I know for an ST202 box, all you need is the lid and the bottom half of your OEM intake. MR2 is a different story though. Mr.beams11-26-2011, 02:45 AMyeah I do have an MR2... the motor is out of a ST202 celica tho... MANDALAY11-26-2011, 07:39 AM4 months on and still no box. Well its a hit or miss. Might be time to order one from Toyota.
Having said that however some claim that the Sard does work but very few Mr.beams11-26-2011, 04:35 PMI need to order the whole intake tho... everything for it... i have nothing :-( Mr.beams11-26-2011, 04:36 PMAnd i know no one... ive emailed places but i get no responce ever... richee311-26-2011, 06:15 PMI have a SARD that I MIGHT be selling soon.. Might be. Nothing is for sure yet. Mr.beams11-28-2011, 12:51 AMokay... but the issue is that I have no intake besides this auto zone one on my car right now.. I need the factory intake before I can do a sard intake... I do want the Sard tho MANDALAY11-28-2011, 02:25 AMStill with a Sard it might not be good, best OEM richee311-28-2011, 07:07 AMWhat do you mean, you need the factory intake before the SARD? All you need is the factory elbow off of the throttle body. That's all I have. An intake from a 97-01 Camry will work as well. It's not optimal, but it works. Mr.beams11-28-2011, 10:34 PMhmmm I might go to the junk yard and look for an intake off a Camry... I love factory intakes... Always had mine on my civic.. way more torqy!!! richee311-29-2011, 09:18 PMIt doesn't quite fit. It's slightly too small. The aftermarket intakes work though. Mr.beams11-30-2011, 12:51 AMhmmm... it would make life sooo much easier to just find an OEM beams 3rd gen intake... how parts searching can be so difficult BonzaiCelica11-30-2011, 06:00 PMI always used to check through nengun every few days for the Celica ST202. You should do the same but for the MR2.... Mr.beams11-30-2011, 09:51 PMgood point... hmmm... I even emailed jhot and got no responce lol Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
