mr2123406-30-2011, 11:48 PMWhat do you think about this? Has any one done it to there 2 . Prices, advice? traintech8606-30-2011, 11:58 PMI am gonna go out and say it, I can't be the only person on these boards who thinks this isn't such a great idea can I? Oteck07-01-2011, 01:10 AMprice? most likely around the same price as a decent paint job, i wouldn't do it though 328FTW07-01-2011, 01:12 AMTears off the paint when you remove it or if you heatgun it off leaves assloads of glue and mess. Plus it fades, peels and otherwise is a pain, good job costs as much as actually painting the car and still isn't really that reversible plus there is still the doorjams and stuff it can't do right Sang07-01-2011, 01:24 AMI am gonna go out and say it, I can't be the only person on these boards who thinks this isn't such a great idea can I?

The wrap on his car looks a hell of a lot better than my 20 yr old OEM paint.

If a mk2 body didn't have so many problem areas where it'd be difficult to apply properly...i probably have wrapped my car in some di-noc by now. traintech8607-01-2011, 01:47 AMI must say his turned out ok, but i assume that it cost a ****ton... looks cool though.

I would sand the shit down and then put something to prevent rust before i would consider that stuff lol. Thats right sheet metal grey lmao RePete07-01-2011, 04:14 AMYeah, it's not as effective, cheap or reversible as the media and some are saying. I've seen it here on a lot of newer cars like GT-Rs, Elises, Cayman's etc. - owners w/ big bucks who just want to play.

Can do some interesting things with it though. From the above thread.

Process here: STLuNaTiC_v34's Spyder build thread (Start: 20 Feb 10) (http://spyderchat.com/forums/showthread.php?39938-STLuNaTiC_v34-s-Spyder-build-thread-(Start-20-Feb-10)) dragraceman2111-21-2011, 06:57 PMNobody has really touched on the fact that ANY flaws in your body will show up big time. I have a friend that does vehicle wraps and he told me to get a decent job the car has to be completely straight, he also said they run between 1500 and 2500 for the complete job, works well on brand new cars but not so much on something coming up on 20 years old. white_mr211-21-2011, 07:12 PMI have seen (in person) a celica that was wrapped. It looked awesome but the Guy told me it will show every imperfection × 100. He said he paid around $2,000 for the complete job. WrenchswingeR11-21-2011, 11:23 PMill have to fish out a pic of an mk2 with full shogun style kit, completely wrapped in a flat black vinyl that was at Bear Mtn meet in NY. Looked sic. dude said it costs about 2gs IIRC WrenchswingeR11-26-2011, 11:46 PMhere, full vinyl wrap- Scenemuffin8612-03-2011, 12:20 AMthe company i work for does wraps, interior and exterior. we use a laminate that UV protects for 6-7 outdoor years. some body styles I've noticed don't look to great matte black. IMO matte white is a lot nicer on mk2's. Matte black should be left to trucks and suv's jmankeys03-30-2013, 02:03 AMHey what kind of material/ brand did you use? also how much! i'm wanting to wrap my mk3 and curious what and how much to buy, and from where. Did you do it your self.....? nomoreavril03-31-2013, 05:41 PMthis is an old post man. are you wanting to do matte black though? it seems like such a waste for that price. i HIGHLY recommend plastidip. it peels off easy, is super easy to apply, super hard to **** up. if a spot messes up, or you get a chip, you don't have to redo the whole thing, just bust out a can and go over the area and it will be good as new and you won't be able to tell you covered it up. its nothing like paint and only cost me about 80 bucks to do my integra. approximately 10-12 cans. the only major downside is that since the surface is rubber, dirt gets on easier and to look GOOD every day you just have to wash it often. i just spray it down with a hose.

25079 kuroy6604-08-2013, 11:31 AMBut plastidip your car is illegal in some states (like Cali) TomsMR204-08-2013, 01:29 PMIts not illegal in CA at all.

It should be, but thats another matter  Plastidip *really* looks bad. At best, it looks like a cheap primer job. Butters04-08-2013, 01:30 PMIm a purist in the idea that in my personal OPINION (keyword opinion) wraps and especially that wretched product plastidip are pure shit.

Do it right and paint the car properly. for all the hassle and money and effort its better looking more durable and just plain right to properly paint a car. anything less comes across as cheap half assed pep boys tuner crap.

again just my opinion nomoreavril04-08-2013, 06:42 PMyou're crazy! there are some trashy people in my town with rattle primer and you can see how nasty it is. plastidip stays pretty consistent. flat color is not for all but i think it lots shit tons better than cheap primer.
