michiganbody05-11-2011, 06:32 PMhi everyone, thank you for having an MR2 forum available online. I am restoring a 1992 red MR2 nonturbo and I was pulling the tail lights out as well as the center black plastic body panel around the key hole. I closed the trunk, and when I tried to open it again with the inside car handle it will not pop open now. I think I might have pulled the clip off that holds the cable to over a stud that sticks through the back for the black body molding but I am not sure. The key also doesn't seem to work as it looks like they haven't used a key in years and it is pretty much a dead end. Is there any other way I can open the trunk? or any hints to what I might try next? WrenchswingeR05-14-2011, 08:05 PMas long as the cable is still connected in the trunk you can get in. Just un-bolt the release handle in the car so u can get to the cable underneath. Remove it from the handle and pull it manually all the way til the trunk releases.
