View Full Version : Had a GERAT Memphis meet!

mr2boost05-22-2006, 01:19 PMWell, we had a pretty good turnout for the meet on Sunday. We had a total of 2 Spyders (Jim's Phanton Grey that is all stock, for now, and James' 228RWHP HAAS turbo blue Spyder), 1- '88 GT FOUR AllTrac that was in AWESOME condition (thanks for bringing it out Nick), and 4 mark2's (my 91t, Ken's White 93 with V6 installed, Andy's beautiful Super Red 93T that looks like it just came off the showroom floor and sporting new Koni's and poly bushings, SS brake lines with Porterfield pads--awesome work Andy!, and Will's 94T with gen3 JDM POWER!) Eric was there (without the 91T SMG with 300+rwhp--need to get that retune of the AEM done soon) and Tim (Will's dad) honored us with his presence. Jared was there but, he rode up on the BMW bike. Discussed alot...

Going to try and set up a track day late September or in early October at Talledega Gran Prix Raceway ( www.tgprace.com ). But, don't want it too close to the late Oct. early Nov. date for the 2nd Annual MidSouth MR2 Owner's Club Free Show-N-Shine. We also discussed having a Scavenger Hunt this summer. Everyone sounded real excited about this. We decided on an entry fee of $20 per car. Then set aside 40% of the money to be given to the winner (car with the MOST points) 10% of the money set aside for "bonus" point give-aways and then 50% of the money go toward paying for our Forum and website ( www.msmr2.com and www.midsouthspyders.com ) and for the tropheys, food, and supplies for the Free Show-N-Shine this fall.

Also may consider having the Paul Revere Ride in conjunction with the Scavenger Hunt. But, we will see. Sounds like this is going to be an exciting year. Also, we have discovered that we can rent the "air strip" at the old Millington Navy Base for $100 a day. So, we discussed renting it for a day for a meet. Setting up cones and having a CLUB autocross (possibly using some of the Scavenger Hunt $$ to buy cones and timing machines in the future).

So, keep watching for dates for these events. I will post as soon as I can figure out all the logistics. I had a FANTASTIC time and can't wait till the next meet and "special event." Thanks again for everyone that came out!!

See Y'all again real soon!

Daniel  Dance_Business05-22-2006, 03:35 PMWish I could have been there. Next time for sure. I am all for having track time, too. Hopefully the October date will be good. Last weekend in September not so good for me. I host a big charity ball the last Saturday of September that eats my time. It is worth every moment though.
Benji mr2boost05-22-2006, 07:58 PMThe track day will MORE than likely be on a Monday. The weekends are more expensive and usually booked up by clubs (such as Porsche, Ferrari, BWM, etc... you know clubs with lots of $$$$). We are pretty poor folks so we need the price break. Our last track day at TGPR was on a Monday and it was fantastic. Drove down on a Sunday evening, spent night in hotel up the road from the track. Got to track early (before 8am when track opens), ran on track ALL DAY (till about 5pm closing time IIRC), left rack, filled up gas tank, caravaned home and, stopped an ate dinner along the way. Great time and everyone was home by 11pm IIRC.

But, I think that renting the old Navy Air Strip in Millington for the day, set up cones, and having our own club autocross, will be a GREAT deal too. So, just keep looking here and on our forum (from www.msmr2.com ) for dates and times. Lots of events planned for this year!

Daniel  N8s93turbo05-22-2006, 08:03 PMany word on the dyno day? i know we discussed it before. Also the road trip to the Tupelo Auto Museum. Wish i could have been there. Should be at the next one for sure. Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
