Those are your only 2 options! LeePeyton02-21-2011, 03:43 PMI'm starting to think you should sale your car to some one that loves MR2s.....

:P necolorado02-21-2011, 04:23 PMI love mr2s lol, Mid engined Rear Wheel drive 2 seater. they looked like the ferrari 355 before ferrari even came out with the concept. And I'm usually not serious in any of my posts. Being completely serious I would say something like this:

I think you should look into the flush mount mr2 headlight kits, they give the car a more modern look while maintaining bolt on funtionality. As for the body Kit, see if you like one with a 93+ lip. I also think that the Greddy sides are some of the best looking improvements to the mr2's deep curve inward on the lower half of the sides. Some simple add ons to the rear will make it all match nicely. Try a 94 wing. And the kouki tailights, one of the best looking modifications that can be done to an mr2 imho. Stay away from scoops sticking out the side or roof, and underglow kits. You don't need a 15" subwoofer between the pass and driver seat either.

but instead I just suggest to put espace headlights on it, makes people say gross, wtf is wrong with that guy, and then do what they really want :) Oteck02-21-2011, 07:40 PMI'm starting to think you should sale your car to some one that loves MR2s.....

:P

I'd have to agree kevinl02-21-2011, 08:39 PM...

i dont think he was talking about you in that post, i respect the bodywork you did but i dont really like the celica front, it kinda has a miata-esque look that im not too crazy about necolorado02-22-2011, 08:09 AMI don't think he hates mr2's or should "sale" it, but sounds like he is stuck watching reruns of pimp my ride. -- What is going to be the purpose of your car Oala? is it gonna be a show car? weekend driver? racer? daily driver? I think you should decide on what you want out of it, then modify it towards a goal. LeePeyton02-22-2011, 11:23 AMI think the purpose of a sports car is obvious, but abusing it is another story. Go buy a Civic for sweet "mods" and going slow with.......

Rather than putting money into a body kit, I would get some nice forged wheels and freshen the paint. Also maybe look into re-doing your interior if its not up to your standards.

One thing to know. When you buy a "body kit". It is not bolt on. They have to be "adjusted" and generally within 6 months of buying one and getting the car painted; they start to look bad.

Now if you want a body kit because your MR2 is wrecked...that is a different situation. Since OEM stuff can be expensive; I would just suggest looking into a nice simple bodykit that replaces the whole part of the car that is damaged.

Either way, your best bet is to look through the albums and to also just use the search function. tksmr202-22-2011, 01:42 PMThere are only two FTO conversions I've ever liked, and they are not in any of the pics above. But, I would personally never do it.

Anyway, the car's hood/bumper is not really designed for flush mounts, and IMHO, it never looks right with flush mount headlights. 99% of the time it looks really really terrible IMO.

Bodykits do require a lot of upkeep. But, if you take the extra time to install them, and sand off any areas were they may rub, and protect any spots that may chip with 3M clear film, they will last for a long time. Most people don't take the time to protect the pieces like I did. After learning more about were I get stone chips, I can futher protect them so that they will never chip in any spot.

Greddy sides are my favorite. Also, a lot of people hate the Border sides.. but I kind of like them with bigger wheels.

There are few fronts I like, but mostly OEM looking ones, or something like a small lip, Holy lip, Stout, Aeroware/shineauto spec A, Cone id decent, etc.

I kind of like the Greddy rear add on pieces, the aeroware rear piece that I have, and sometimes the TOMs back piece is nice.

In the end it just depends on the overall look. You can have a really nice body , but if you have a crappy stance, or crappy wheels, it will look crappy no matter what. Everything has to fit, and flow together IMO. In other words, don't half ass it. Or, even better advice, don't do it at all if you can't afford to complete the entire look. It will just look like you are trying to look like a ricer, in that case. oala02-22-2011, 04:49 PMi want it to be a racing car and a show car im trying to base it off this car but different bodykit

If you want a race car and a show car...you need 2 cars.

While you race and do AutoX...your car will get beaten to death. Also you will need different sets of wheels.

Show cars are a cool idea, but you CAN NOT RACE THEM or even use them as a daily driver.

Also it is actually way cheaper to make a race car vs a show car.

***BUT***

You can have a nice looking race car. It just will not be show car shiny.

One other thing.

To have a show car...unless you can paint and do most of the work yourself.

Take a normal price of the car and triple it...after you buy it. And that should give you an idea of how much you will be spending.

For example. For a $5k MR2...you will most likely spend ATLEAST $15k to get it to show quality.

I used to have a Nissan Frontier that I showed and it was a bare bones Truck but I had almost $10k invested in just the stereo. The guys I competed against had bottomless budgets or were sponsored.

***My Advice***

Get a clean MR2 and work on its handling and looks within reason. Make it sharp and clean.

Also if you want to actually seriously race on a track.

The best $1500 you can spend is on this...
Skip Barber Racing School (http://www.skipbarber.com/)
Some insurances will even give you a discount for these types of courses.

Or get together with a local AutoX group.

The beauty of AutoX is if you wreck...you just spin out and hit a cone. Instead of rolling the car and doing huge amounts of damage.

Anyway good luck man.

The MR2 is a blast to drive. I have owned many faster cars, but my simple AW11 is my favorite handling car I have ever owned. devious02-23-2011, 01:15 PMWhat do you guys thing of a trd wide body with the RX7 headlight conversion?
