View Full Version : Weird Question...Supercharged vs. Supercharger decals


Griff02-19-2011, 11:39 PMWhen I bought my 89 SC, the previous owner had taken it to some budget shop that did a horrible job. Anyway, long story short it needs a repaint.

Anyway, I found a decal kit on ebay for about $50. The item description said it included 3 "supercharged" decals for doors and trunk.

They arrived today and I noticed they all say "Supercharger". At first I thought this was a huge mistake so I hopped online to do some research. I tried to find as many stock pictures as I could to decide what was actually correct.

The problem now is I found/saw pictures that had both "SUPERCHARGED" and "SUPERCHARGER" on the trunk lid.:wtf:

Does anyone know what the proper OEM decals should say?:confused:

i believe it says "supercharger" on the side panels

on the rear i thought it said "supercharged" jon11902-21-2011, 08:02 PMThe North American cars say "Supercharged" on both moldings for the doors as well as in the rear on the top left corner of the trunk lid. The OEM door moldings has the "Supercharged" text imbeded in. The stickers obviously can not recreate this effect, but for most people, the $50 kit is money well spent (unless you try to sell your car to a "collector") as most MK1s are not going to the Pebble Beach concours!!! :D

JDM cars (possibly other markets as well) say "Supercharger". These MR2s you saw were not from North America. ;)

Please post some pics of this kit (I believe it's from a guy in Prince Edward Island here in Canada) as I would like to see how it looks. If you look on e-bay he also has a copy of the Super Edition sticker kits for the same price which includes a "Super Edition" sticker that replaces the "Toyota" writing on the wind deflector above the rear window. I think that he can customize the colors to almost anything that you want.

After of course! I'd love to see the sizing of the pinstipes versus the oem ones. My paint is original and in very good shape but the striping is peeling in places. If you have a scrap piece when you're done I would send you a couple of bucks if you mail me a piece...

Let me know - low priority for me as I have a TON of aftermarket parts that I have accumulated over the winter that need installation when the snow melts.

Anyway, the painting went pretty good this weekend. Had a few spots where the clear coat ran, but I'll be able to touch that up later.

I contacted the person who sold me the decals and he shipped the correct ones out immediately. They make such a big difference!!!

I think I attached some pics, but may have done it wrong:confused:
I don't think I kept any of the leftover pinstriping (sorry jon :( ), but from what I can tell from other pics I've seen they are pretty close (maybe a little thinner than stock)

P.S. for those of you who see the pics I know I 'misplaced' the striping and supercharged logos on the door molding jon11902-28-2011, 08:39 PMDid you ship back the wrong set? If not, I would be interested in it for the striping and the Toyota sticker for the hood.
