View Full Version : Rev1 wing paint bubbles and blisters

mailman102-05-2011, 09:35 AMThis is a problem I have on mine. And my friend has the same problem on his. It is quite normal on the rev1 wing i've come to understand.

I've had it fixed last year, and the bubbles just started coming back this year. 6 months. . :(

Is there a solution to this? What kind of treatment should i give the glassfibre to end these horrible blisters on my wing? rider_72702-06-2011, 03:00 AMThis is a problem I have on mine. And my friend has the same problem on his. It is quite normal on the rev1 wing i've come to understand.

Easy... Just ditch the wing... mmltml02-06-2011, 07:43 PMI'd be interested to hear a fix for this. My '93 has a small spot of bubbling as well, though I've always assumed it was because of the semi-crappy paint job the PO did... Benckj02-06-2011, 09:44 PMOk this is what I found when I owned a gen 1. The water can get under the side spoiler pieces and get trapped. When it heats it it will migrate through the fibreglass and cause the outside area of the paint to bubble up. This is the reason why when you sand down spoiler it looks as though it is solid and not flakey paint.

What to do. Remove side pieces and sand down interior. Clean and prime with a decent paint which will seal the underside. Sand down exterior to 800grit and re-coat including clear. Only need to do main center spoiler if faded and you want to match side pieces.
