yota_turbo_boy05-08-2006, 05:40 PMhey, i was wondering if i can use the aem plug-in-play on an sw20 with a 3sgte, because on the web it doesnt say anything on the site, so was curious if they made one that plugs right in. if not can i still use it and what do i have to do. if it does work what else do i have to do. any additional sensors or anything like that needed. PHOENIX05-08-2006, 07:25 PMas far as i know, yes....ill do a little research for you :) brb

Wow those are not cheap. Have you looked into other EMS stuff? I think you should look at the Nemesis (www.mrcontrols.com), for the price and compatability for our cars, its a much better deal. Weasy2k05-08-2006, 07:35 PMYes they are plug and play as long as hydra and soon to me Perfect Power XMS :) mr2slow4you05-08-2006, 07:41 PMI thought the nemesis had almost the same price. First I would check with what tuners are closest to you. Personally, I think I am going to stick with aem. I have had several tuners say they prefer features the aem has over the nemesis. PHOENIX05-08-2006, 08:13 PMwell, the website says they dont have a programmable AEM EMS for the SW20.

the MSRP on the toyota stuff is about $2400.00 bucks
the MSRP on the universal AEM is $3240.00 bucks

hydra nemesis - $1450.00 mr2slow4you05-08-2006, 09:08 PMUh... the 91-92 and 93-95 aem ems sell for 1400-1600 with all the sensors you need, and it is plug and play. yota_turbo_boy05-09-2006, 04:58 PMhey now i found the p-n-p on this site and it says its for sw20. plus its only 17 and some change.

check it out and let me know what yall think. PHOENIX05-09-2006, 05:34 PMUh... the 91-92 and 93-95 aem ems sell for 1400-1600 with all the sensors you need, and it is plug and play.

oh, i didnt see it on the site mr2slow4you05-09-2006, 06:42 PMhttp://cgi.ebay.com/AEM-EMS-ECU-Computer-Toyota-MR-2-MR2-Tubo-91-92-FreeShp_W0QQitemZ8062074953QQcategoryZ33596QQssPag eNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

If you do a google search and look around you can find cheaper. I have seen some vendors that deal with aem go as low as $1575. Claudio RX-705-15-2006, 08:45 PMGuys, the Haltech is a very good alternative, the E6X is the entry level system which is very capable of runing both your ignition and fuel, with aditional options for other things like fans, shift light, nos, boost control, etc. Then if you want something to more closely match the AEMs capabilities, you can get the new E8 wich is full sequential 4 cylinder, with things like closed loop boost by gear, more resolution, you can use your own engine's sensors, as well as the posibility for PnP with a patch harness.

E6X - Flying lead harness or PnP patch loom: 1150 (w/sensors, including built in 22psi map sensor) + Installation/tuning costs.

E8 - Flying lead harness or PnP patch loom: 1450 (w/sensors) + installation/tuning, if you just want the ECU and harness and use your own sensors, delete the cost of the temp sensors, but you may want to stick with the 3bar map sensor.

Contact me if you are interested, right now im doing a PnP E6X install on Brian (Ncturnal's) Silver MR-2, hopefully it will be done tomorrow, so hopefully we'll have some numbers for you to see. Justin31106-19-2006, 07:34 PMContact John Reed of Rrev Motorsports (search for his name on here for contact info). He sells AEMs. Let him know Scremin sent ya ;)

Oh, and I second the opinion to find your tuner first. For me it was John Reed, so the obvious choice was AEM. If RickyB is your neighbor, its obvious as well. Besides that, figure who you would like to work with (NoShoes is very good as well) and go to them first. Will save a lot of headaches!!
