View Full Version : What color is this?

ZComm1712-04-2010, 05:30 PMSo I was looking for a new wallpaper for my computer and as I was browsing I found this 937.4 WHP Supra. The color is orgasmic, the description on it is "Full carbon Supra" it weighs 1200 kilos (2645 lbs) I'm not sure if I'm looking at a carbon body or a really sexy paint job but either way I was wondering if anyone knows of a color that is close to that in paint.

Dry carbon look Oteck12-04-2010, 09:03 PMprobably cost more than an actual paint job dubmr212-04-2010, 09:11 PMthats what I hate about "carbon" wrap, unlike real carbon, it just looks like flatish black paint from a distance, seems like such a waste to me...

I dont personally like carbon on my car, but seeing my teams half monocoque FSAE car out in the sun in cali was one of the sexist things... ever, theres so much depth to the real stuff skyteck12-04-2010, 09:48 PMwell if its all "carbon" it wouldn't technically be a paint color... the closest thing i've seen is flat or matte black http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/3/1717/801/29290400156_large.jpg ZComm1712-04-2010, 09:53 PMIt looks like flat gunmetal, it's not dark enough to be black but still flat. But whenever I hear "flat black" I think about the mexicans that live next to me and their spray painted civics... they look like crap. So maybe I just haven't seen a professional flat black paint job? dubmr212-04-2010, 10:01 PMwell theres a difference between a properly prep'ed and sprayed flat black and a rattle can flat black, these are some of my favorite looking flat black cars that came to mind: ZComm1712-04-2010, 10:04 PMwell theres a difference between a properly prep'ed and sprayed flat black and a rattle can flat black, these are some of my favorite looking flat black cars that came to mind:

Whats the second one? or are they the same? dubmr212-04-2010, 10:12 PMthe second one is a nissan silvia s15, there both RAUH-Welt cars ZComm1712-04-2010, 10:23 PMNo I know what car it is but are they both professionally done or is one rattle can and the other pro status. This is what I see every day

You can see the lines and theres a color change... just looks terrible
The Supra and those others have a shine on them too but its like just enough to make it look gorgeous and not to ricey dubmr212-04-2010, 10:26 PMlol, its a zebra! skyteck12-04-2010, 10:31 PMIt looks like flat gunmetal, it's not dark enough to be black but still flat. i guess you have not!! a good flat black paint job is much harder to accomplish than a regular paint job, simply because you dont use gloss coating at the end,
among other things.

That Lambo looks amazing haha
Thats what I want on my MR2, but if its harder to achieve would it cost more to have done? skyteck12-05-2010, 03:45 AMit shouldn't be too much of a difference, just gotta go to someone that knows what he's doing... your cheapo local paint and body shop may not be your best choice. just remember that this kind of paint job started on hot rods and classics.
