View Full Version : mk2 cheap vent mod

samwisethewise11-20-2010, 04:31 PMbuying solid side vents is way to expensive when you can just do it yourself. samwisethewise11-20-2010, 04:38 PMi have only been able to find one other person who actually posted on this so i just went for it and hoped it would turn out well. this is what i've got so far. lots of sanding and fiberglass/bondo work CJMR2T11-20-2010, 04:41 PMWhat???? are you asking a question?? It almost seems like your replying to a post but this is the only post in the thread..... Im confused.

Most everyone knows you can mod your own for cheaper but not many have the FRP skills to get a good finished piece. CJMR2T11-20-2010, 04:41 PMOh ok, now you've posted more.... That should have all been in the first post. samwisethewise11-20-2010, 04:42 PMafter 2 coats of primer samwisethewise11-20-2010, 04:43 PMlol this if my first thread and im getting confused. i will figure it out eventually CJMR2T11-20-2010, 06:40 PMlol this if my first thread and im getting confused. i will figure it out eventually

Its all good man.. Just a little confusing with that first post being a single non discriptive sentence.

Anyways, looking pretty good there..

One of these days I'll get around to finishing mine that I started several months ago and never finished. And have to fix the ones on my girls car cause the PO did them and he didn't take the time to do it right. samwisethewise11-20-2010, 06:55 PMits actually pretty easy. just takes of lot of patience and sanding. i had to bondo it 4 times. what are you painting yours with? MR2na9101-22-2011, 11:13 PMHow did it turn out? I'm thinking of doing this... Can you show more photos and a step by step DIY with a supply list?

Thanks! necolorado03-07-2011, 10:21 AMthumbs up samwisethewise10-04-2011, 05:27 PMHey sorry I haven't posted in so long. All I used was a dremel tool, fiberglass, bondo, an sand paper. Was surprisingly easy and Turned out great. Just make sure you dot break any clips when your taking the vent off because it's hard to find clips that fit perfectly Xuracing10-10-2011, 10:11 PMnice job. unfortunately there are about 50 threads of this mod. Including about 4 websites atleast going through how to do this step by step in a much more through fashion. Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc.
