View Full Version : Headlight conversion questions

skunkninja11-08-2010, 10:32 PMSo after searching the boards, I'm leaning towards getting the Autopal H4 conversion headlights.
Couple questions
-They make them with or without city lights. What are city lights? Anyone have pictures? Do you hook up the city light to parking light circuit?
-Euro or DOT? I need to be able to see deer, etc off to the side of the road. Will the euros just focus light on the road & not on the side? Anyone have comparison puctures?
Thanks CJMR2T11-08-2010, 11:04 PMCity lights are basically a small bulb thats added to the housing to cause it to glow but nothing more. Its a European and Japan thing (and probably other areas too). In many country's when you get into well lit cities, you are supposed to shut the headlights off and just have the parking and "city lights" on. Its a "Light polution" thing.

As for the Euro or ECE or E-code light, its just a different quality standard used in Europe vs DOT standard here in the states. ECE spec light generally have a better light output but they are illegal here for public highway use. The likely hood of having legality issues are slim to none.

Personally, I would go with the ECE (Euro) light cause in most cases, they are better lights. Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
