mk1pro1208-21-2010, 12:35 AMhey so i am thinking of putting a body kit or ground effects kit on my 87 mk1 mr2 but i dont know which one to do? also what is a good brand to get? is there any brand or kind that is direct bolt on and doesnt have to be messed with. i am looking to bold on sand and paint. if anyone knows if there is such a kit besides stock...lol... that would be great! beachbum08-21-2010, 11:39 AMIf your looking for bolt on then plan on spending some $ and don't go for a cheap kit. pretty much when it comes to bodykits you get what you pay for literally. mr308-21-2010, 11:42 AMThe only piece that actually looks decent is Buddyclub. Most if not all kits are rounded out and do not fit the styling of the AW at all. mk1pro1208-21-2010, 04:56 PMbut are there kits that dont need extra fiber glassing? if so which brands? thanks bquick22208-21-2010, 07:23 PM+2 on buddy club i think it looks nice

Cause it's cheap lol xclusive_s04-16-2011, 12:09 PMWhere can you order the DA1 bumper from? dragraceman2104-17-2011, 01:16 AMtake a look at this one it might work for you.

:: Toyota Catalog Supra, Paseo, Celica, MR2 :: (http://www.fxdesigns.com/Toyota.htm) firenz004-17-2011, 04:48 PMthe Fx rear bumper doesn't do it for me:undecided dragraceman2104-20-2011, 05:27 AMwell it looks a whole lot better than the defender body kits most eveyone uses! firenz004-20-2011, 07:18 PMwhat does the defender look like? dragraceman2104-22-2011, 04:13 AMgo out on ebay, and type in body kit for mk1 MR2 San Anto AW1105-14-2011, 12:10 AMWoodsport sells the nicest looking rear bumper out there, but they are in the UK so shipping to the states is high. I just had them price me one and it was about $500 US not including shipping. I would have got it but he said it would be several weeks to ship due to them moving locations recently. q-authority05-16-2011, 09:02 PMGetting Woodsport to even ship you anything would be a first, as up till know he has completely refused to ship any of the body parts that he has made, claiming that it is just too difficult, lol. Otherwise, he has made what appear to be very good replicas of the German 'Style Auto' front and rear pieces. Unfortunately, his refusal to ship them has cost him a lot of business. muffinman05-25-2011, 11:47 AMGetting Woodsport to even ship you anything would be a first, as up till know he has completely refused to ship any of the body parts that he has made, claiming that it is just too difficult, lol. The problem is that the shipping can cost more than the part itself. :( Also the parts could be easily damaged and imagine what a pain it would be to ship back. q-authority05-25-2011, 12:11 PMThe problem is that the shipping can cost more than the part itself. :( Also the parts could be easily damaged and imagine what a pain it would be to ship back.
Sorry, but I think that is an all too common excuse, and some of it is perhaps a bit exagerated. Also, Woodsport does not even ship locally, so that would exclude any issues regarding shipping costs being an issue as a whole, plus if people want the item enough, they certainly are not going to be bothered by the shipping cost unless it is absolutely sky high. Even then ocean shipping is an option that can reduce costs significantly. I just got a front lip from Japan, via ocean shipping, which is just about the most expensive place to get parts shipped from. The cost was reasonable, and it got to my door in about exactly one month, so shipping time was not an issue either.

I have now ordered large fragile body components from both Germany and Japan, using both FedEx and ocean transport, and none of the boxes, or the components inside have been the worse for wear. I especially expected the ocean transport one to look a bit beat up, but it was in great shape. The one from Germany, which had quite a home-made box, was actually in pretty good condition as well.

Considering how many items like these must be shipped every day, it is unlikely that they will be abused any more than any other item being shipped by the same method. If shippers actually did as much damage as people tend to let on that they do then they would soon go out of business. Plus that is also why any such item should have shipping insurance when available. FC88MR205-25-2011, 01:47 PMI dont blame any shop that doesnt ship body parts. It is a royal PITA! Most people dont want to spend the extra on insurance and when the part arrives broken, they want a refund and dont want to pay shipping back. It also limits how many parts are out there and increases value because of the limited supply. I would love Pauls front bumper he put on his V8 project and I dig the rear too, but I wouldnt be able to make it fit like he made it. flatline1605-25-2011, 04:22 PMKaminari rear looks or my custom rear lip look the best imo. For the front either 87+ lip or buddy club. Andrew D06-08-2011, 11:35 PMI'm trying to hunt down a buddy club, or a buddy club knock off... Anybody have any leads? If none I'll have to go with the los lip. q-authority06-09-2011, 01:37 AMIf you could afford an arm and a leg you could get one like this (straight from Japan land).;)

Yes they do, at least as of a couple of years ago when I dealt with them personally, but he is a pain in the @ss to deal with. I had to file a paypal claim to get him to ship it, and then he still screwed me over on shipping. That being said they are one of the best looking front lips for the MKI, and pretty decent quality as these things go.

You might check with 'RON' on MR2oc.com if you are interested in one as I think he might actually have one he would be willing to sell, but it won't be cheap.;) kevAW1106-09-2011, 11:32 PMYes they do, at least as of a couple of years ago when I dealt with them personally, but he is a pain in the @ss to deal with. that lip is teh secks. i can't seem to find them anywhere, but of course i don't know where to look lol. it'll be a while before i can afford any sort of mod, but the mk1 i'm buying needs a bumper skin, this would do nicely.

i also love the skirts as opposed to the demon/ebay kit. this is one of the few that actually seems to compliment the lines of the mk1 dragraceman2106-10-2011, 05:27 AMI totally agree about the side skirts, the ones in the demon/ebay kit look awful. I wont be doing the body and paint on mine until this fall/winter but this is the kit im planing on using.
