View Full Version : Scored big at tha junkyard today

Tristen06-05-2010, 07:28 PMSo i went to the junkyard just looking for eyelashes and found so much more (also, the eyelashes)
I got a steering wheel, door handle thingies that aren't cracked,

and that clear valance thingie (visor?) that goes on the back

a front tower strut bar (my car's a sunroof car, so the sunroof'll have to go behind the passanger seat now, or in the trunk or something)

My car still, unfortunately has some problems with some very confused Sherwood Toning, but that's to be taken care of in the future, or something like that...... i'm so excited i could squeel like a little schoolgirl........

p.s. Ku-Sama is providing a frunk liner in exchange for a celica armrest that i bought for him while we were there :D ajkaos06-05-2010, 07:52 PMMan you came up with that visor!! haha How much did they charge for it?
I had a great trip the other day, got a new dash, mudflaps, and rear spoiler brake light. But i looked everywhere for eyelashes, and found none -_- Tristen06-05-2010, 07:56 PMi think i got the visor for like..... USD 10.00

my entire bill came to like USD 98.00 when all was said and done ajkaos06-05-2010, 08:00 PM:wtf: $10.00?
thats........ AWESOME!! :D
haha good find. I dont think that is a SC side scoop though. I have the same one and mine is N/A. Tristen06-05-2010, 08:07 PMhttp://farm5.static.flickr.com/4050/4673433484_a5a8b35fe2_b.jpg

EDIT: p.s. good find on the mudflaps ^__^ i like mudflaps very much... too bad there's a rust hole where my mudflaps go ajkaos06-05-2010, 08:12 PMInteresting, well maybe the scoops had to do with the year?
Because unless my SC is broken, and ive been missing it everytime I open my engine hood, I dont have one . But I have that scoop. Also, at the yards ive seen SC mk1s w/ the other scoop. Tristen06-05-2010, 08:17 PMhmmm, that's certainly interesting.... i have the other scoop, it's like made of steel and heavyness... i like the new one better; something to do with how the shape works with the car... idk, mine's an 86... so maybe it has to do with the year... we need a third opinion lol ajkaos06-05-2010, 08:21 PMwe need a third opinion lol

lol agreed! Im kind of curious now. It is possible that the previous owner of my car may have switched out the scoop..
Somebody reply!!! :D Maruki-kun06-05-2010, 09:51 PMI say we go back and get that other valance and go gut that GTS :) Foygroup06-05-2010, 10:13 PMSee it wasn't that bad a trip coming up to my end of town to see a junk yard. The way he was running thru the junk yard for his tools, little school girl does come into mind. Two MK1s in the same place with lots of good parts still on them. You didn't mention the new electric mirror you got for your passinger side. Tristen06-06-2010, 02:31 AMhehe, ya :p

i'm'a look at some wiring diagrams and check what voltages i need, and test the mirror, because i can't tell if it works or not... my current one doesn't work, so i can't tell if it's my car or my mirror being bad....... the other one moves though lol

P.S. if i had some more monies, i'd totally gut the crap out of the two cars ^__^ lsgheero06-06-2010, 03:43 AMThe 85-(sometime in 87) had the flat with the rest of car side vent, The 87-89 years had the one your describing as the supercharged vent. Foygroup06-06-2010, 07:13 PMI will be over tomorrow to check out my new Gen III being delivered. If you would like, I can bring my volt meter and check out the difference between the working mirror and the one that is not working. It may also be your switch. We can take your working mirror and plug it into the none working side to verify it is not your switch or wiring. Maruki-kun06-06-2010, 07:51 PMI have a multimeter..... somewhere..... Tristen06-06-2010, 11:26 PMsounds like a plan ^__^ i can be there somewhere around 5-ish-ish te51levin06-24-2010, 11:40 AM1985 and 1986 model years used the flush vent (which I actually prefer). 1987+ cars all had the raised vent that Didijik found at the JY. Papo J06-24-2010, 12:16 PM1985 and 1986 model years used the flush vent (which I actually prefer). 1987+ cars all had the raised vent that Didijik found at the JY.

The side vent was raised because the air filter was moved to the trunk and now has cold air being fed to it from the top side of the vent. muffinman06-24-2010, 01:26 PMdid you figure out your mirror problem?
