View Full Version : Spring Photo Shoot

eckoman_pdx04-01-2010, 01:07 AMWell, the weather was decent last week, so I was able to clean up the MR2 and take her out for a Spring Photo Shoot.

She's a 1992 MR2 Turbo. Here are some exterior, close up, engine bay, and interior pictures.

Thanks!! Just put some time into cleaning up your bay, and I'm sure it will look good!! :)

Nice.

Thanks :)

Tits. Did you wrap the interior yourself? It looks amazing. I want.

Thanks! :)

I did indeed wrap the interior myself. I do custom upholstery work.

It's wrapped in genuine Novasuede (which comparable to Genuine Alcantara, it's one of the best types of Suede out there).

She's gorgeous, the paint looks so immaculate!

Thanks!! I've put a lot of time into restoring the factory paint so it looks good, and then keeping it up.

The headlights themselves are Rev 6 headlights. You can purchase them from Twos R Us for $685 + shipping. They usually has a few sets in stock too.

Here's a direct link

Revision 6 Low Rise Quad Headlamp Conversion (http://www.twosrus.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22_30&products_id=463&osCsid=aad69b316f6b5305c0e9588472eab3ae)

The lighting on mine, however, is 100% custom. If you buy Rev 6 lights, the low beams will NOT stay on with the high beams, and the fog lights will not stay on with the high beams. Your low beams will switch off when the high beams turn on.

I poured over the OEM wiring diagrams to design a system that keeps the low and high beams on at once, allows me independent fog lights, and keeps all the dash indicator lights working (meaning the high beam indicator light still works). I designed a harness 100% from scratch, using heavy duty wiring (10 and 12 gauge). I even installed a new fuse box for the system.

Also, there are a few tricks to getting Rev 6 lights to install correct, and getting the lid to sit flush. The install instructions are a good start, but they leave some things out. PM me if you get them and run into problems installing them.

Neat. What kind of finish is that on your intercooler pipe and hot pipe? I gotta clean mine up too.

Thanks :)

On the intercooler cold pipe, I polished the pipe out (sanded followed by a machine buff) and then shot it with a ceramic clearcoat to that it wouldn't rust or fade. The OEM cold pipe is steel with a zinc plating, so it'll dull and look bad pretty quickly if not coated (plus it will rust if you go through the zinc plating).

On the OEM Hotpipe, I sanded the casting "grain" off the top part of it, and followed that up with a Silver Ceramic Paint and with a Ceramic Clear Coat laid over it for some gloss and added durability. I may chemical strip that off and polish the whole thing out and then shoot it with ceramic clear (like the cold pipe).

clean....

Thanks :)

where did you get that engine lid lift?

I bought it from KO Racing. It retails for $70, and install is a snap. It really makes working on the car easier (plus it looks great). Ko's prop rod is "the original gas charged engine prop rod developed and designed by Lino Verna with the design wholly purchased and owned by KO Racing"

That aside, I prefer the KO Prop because the bracket and ball joints on the engine lid and car itself look cleaner than the other kits out there. IMO the brackets are better designed overall.

Here's a direct link to it.

It's a KO Racing Gas Charged Engine Prop on my car ;) David04-02-2010, 10:19 PMJust out of curiousity, if I were to buy a 240sx dash, center console, glove box, door panels, etc somewhere near by you, how much would you charge to wrap them in the same material, and then I take care of shipping back to FL? I know it would be pretty complicated, but maybe we could work something out? Here's a link to a pic of my interior, just so you get a general idea. All I want is a very general ball park. 240 interior (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/David1000/240SX/100_3279.jpg) eckoman_pdx04-03-2010, 04:28 PMJust out of curiousity, if I were to buy a 240sx dash, center console, glove box, door panels, etc somewhere near by you, how much would you charge to wrap them in the same material, and then I take care of shipping back to FL? So you want the dash, center console, glove box, door panels, etc wrapped? Everything sans the seats, rear deck lid, headliner, and pillars it sounds like.

When you said same material, what did you mean? Something to match the OEM black plastic/vinyl, to match the fabric seats, or the Novasuede I used? David04-03-2010, 05:03 PMI mean the nova suede that you used. And for the door panel, I only need the inserts wrapped. mr2turbo20004-05-2010, 01:29 PMClean mr2! Clean mr2! What are you lowered on?

Thanks! I'm lowered on Silkroad Section Spec RM/A8 inverted Monotube Coilovers.

The springs on the coilovers are 5 kg/mm 150mm springs front, 8kg/mm 200mm springs rear. However, I may up the spring rate to 7kg/mm 150 length front and 10 kg/mm 200 length rear. I'm still undecided on if I want to up it or not.

Here's a picture of the front left coilover.
