ShackC03-03-2010, 08:54 PMWhat are opinions on the standard lift, halo type 7"x6" headlights. o6spdracer03-03-2010, 09:21 PMThe one aside from the eBay ones are the Pegasus Halo projectors poopeeroo03-03-2010, 09:22 PMthese?

ShackC03-03-2010, 10:03 PMof course civics dont have popups, sure someone would have called me on that, lol. ShackC03-03-2010, 10:07 PMthose pegasus one look good on a mr2 tho just checked the site, howsabout the visibility. poopeeroo03-03-2010, 10:20 PM100 times better than stock or any ebay housings.

it's "real" projectors! mr2_guy03-04-2010, 01:17 AMthose pegasus one look good on a mr2 tho just checked the site, howsabout the visibility.

I just had my pegasus installed this pass Monday, visibility is a lot a lot better you'll notice the differences, you can also get a 55w if you want them brighter , I went with the 8000k 35w. ShackC03-04-2010, 07:51 AMdid you guys go with black ones or what, or does pegasus make them in black?

Whats the diff. in black corners and smoked ones? mr2_guy03-04-2010, 11:13 PMHere a pic of mine, mine are clear I don't think they made them in black, but I would be wrong.

Yeah my car was tired  ShackC03-05-2010, 06:49 PMlol. The lo rise is too pricey for lights of my pickings, interested in better things, just hate the stock ones. They all look so good though. You can get the pegasus for $265 shipped which includes a pair of pegasus, white angel eyes unless you want a other color angel eyes, which cost a little bit more, and a 35w H7 HID, if you want the 55w HID I believe is $30 more, I could be wrong tho.

I got mine here:

TwosRUs (http://www.twosrus.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22_30&products_id=463)

They are pricey but wonderful.

Not bad install either. Did mine at home in an afternoon. ShackC03-07-2010, 05:49 PMI meant the halo style. LeePeyton03-29-2010, 07:42 PMonly 685 dollars? LOL ShackC03-29-2010, 07:47 PMso do the ebay ones suck or what?
I like the clear 6x7 diamond cut ones, i think those projectors are most likely junk, uhh are they?

Im just going to get something cleaner looking. I dont so much care about the halos now to expensive really as some time has been spent on multiple thoughts and i really have alot more things to do in prioritized order. So im just going to replace what i have, the passenger one is blown so im looking at the ebay ones or maybe something like silverstars or something like that. Around the 50dollar range. poopeeroo03-29-2010, 07:52 PMso do the ebay ones suck or what?

dont waste you time on ebay's fake projectors. they are not real projector. they are just like mirrors. very poor light output ShackC03-29-2010, 07:54 PMThought so. How about their other cheapos, or should i spend my money on something like the silverstars? vegas94turbo03-30-2010, 02:55 AMread through this thread, some good info that might help u:

I might bump this thread a little off track again lol. How good are you at fabbing things up?

I made a set out of old es300 headlights on a frame I welded up for them.

http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/ff323/328FTW/V6%20Build/PIC_0045-1.jpg

I think canadam was looking at doing something similar but didn't want to buy and hack up lights if they didn't work. I've yet to adjust them and stuff but so far they seem alright. I'm putting this out there because I feel awesome that it worked:lol: There is more info in my V6 thread but it depends on if you want bolt ons, if you do get out your wallet otherwise get ghetto like I did;) Cleanest Duece05-03-2010, 10:37 AMwow that is ghetto, but creative 328FTW05-03-2010, 03:28 PMwow that is ghetto, but creative

They look pretty good. I can't find the second surround plastic thing at the moment but they look good with everything in place. I might fibreglass up a better surround later otherwise looks good man.

Need adjusting but yeah otherwise they are pretty bright with a 35W hid kit. ShackC05-03-2010, 03:39 PMHow much did you put into the project, money and time?

could/would you fab up another set?

what parts did you buy?

Im thinking about building something like the nsx lights (they kinda remind me of frog eyes) has anybody heard of this? Cleanest Duece05-03-2010, 06:30 PMwow no kddin they actually dont look that bad with the covering, looks really similar to the rev6 kit. and holy sh¿t i wanna see that car with the fogs on, what are those 4"? Cleanest Duece05-03-2010, 06:31 PMand i see you tinted one of your front markers and the side marker, how many coats did you use? 328FTW05-03-2010, 06:37 PMHow much did you put into the project, money and time?

^ Money, about $50 worth of lights and some scrap steel, add another $150 for the HID but that wasn't NEEDED just I wanted awesome light output. Time, if I were to do it in one go about 3 days.

I've been looking at how to make these reproducible would cost near nothing to produce if the person can supply es300 lights and do their own lowrise and assemble in the supplied frame it would keep costs way down. Just the time to make a jig to produce these things is hard to find, I have so many other projects but I have got a few PM's and been asked a few times so I would like to make these available to buy. Just time is what I lack.

And that side marker, 3 coats but it is a little much I did 2 on another and it looks almost the same but actually lets a lot more light through so I'm going with 2. Also going to go to brighter LED blinkers hopefully, to throw out some more light Cleanest Duece05-03-2010, 07:07 PMim torn between tinting the front signals, or spending $45 and buying the black housing ones off ebay 328FTW05-03-2010, 07:44 PMI went with tint because I did the tails as well. This car is going to be all blacked out I might change my engine bay scheme to a metallic black or an anodizing/candy black on silver look. I want to tint those huge front fogs as well or put them behind mesh and make the grill look tidy. Overall this car looks a lot different to when I got it and has cost me only about $2500 including the cars cost that is V6 swap and all so I'm happy :D

Derailed a bit there lol. Cleanest Duece05-03-2010, 07:58 PMi wouldnt tint your fogs, once they are tinted they are pretty much useless, my friend tinted his fog lights on his dodge caliber, and they gave off no light output whatsoever. it will look cool, but they will be useless.... IMO 328FTW05-03-2010, 08:12 PMThey are useless anyway  Cleanest Duece05-03-2010, 08:39 PMpost a pic if u can. thought they might be epic bright, they look around the same size as the PIAA's i have on the front of my 4runner 328FTW05-03-2010, 08:46 PMThey are some $10 things I bought a while back to replace the big holes left by the smashed OEM ones they are not hugely bright they just fill the holes and look better than nothing. Cleanest Duece05-03-2010, 08:48 PMok gotcha LeePeyton05-05-2010, 12:47 AMAll this talk of headlights what about 328FTW's awesome tractor? eckoman_pdx05-05-2010, 07:12 PMAll this talk of headlights what about 328FTW's awesome tractor?

It's a mighty fine looking tractor  scottohno05-05-2010, 09:13 PMwill the rev6's fit on a mk1?

oh and to answer the OPs question: EBAY SELLS JUNK. end of story. if youre getting a deal on headlights for under $50 its kinda like getting 4 rolls of toilet paper for 89 cents. yeah its still toilet paper, and gets the job done, but youre crabby all day cause you have chafing where there should never be chafing.

you buy these headlights and your 2 will be pissy. its better then nothing, but your mr2 will be chafed, metaphorically. it has something on it with an ebay sticker. 328FTW05-05-2010, 09:47 PMAll this talk of headlights what about 328FTW's awesome tractor?

Lol where did talk of tractors come from:lol: I'll go get the V8 one back then you will all bow down before a tractor that can do 1/4 mile passes faster than a lot of cars. ShackC05-05-2010, 09:58 PMLOL, ive seen tractors do 100+ its pretty funny.

Has any one ran like the silverstar lights or something equivalent. All i care about is to make the stock look brighter.

As far as Halogen lights go, Silverstars have good output. The issue with them is they burn out pretty darn quick. scottohno05-06-2010, 02:19 PMyeah like once a year or so, depending on how much you drive in rain/dark. I thinks its funny though. scottohno05-06-2010, 07:17 PM^that ran one second more than my MK1 without anything in it. and i mean NOTHING was in it. no carpet, dash, driver or passenger seat, nothing in the trunk/frunk, i had a pair of sweatpants on and i pooped before i ran and i ran a 16.1

stock time is supposed to be 16.9

You have a few options. You can get Autopal housings, Hella housings, or Cibie. Cibie and Autopal are ECE spec, Hella sells DOT Vision Plus and ECE Spec (most people perfer the ECE Spec). Those lights with the "Diamond Clear" housing avoid. They generally have a plastic face, and they are not very good.

Here is a good link to read: The differences between ECE (E Code) European Headlamps and Vision Plus DOT Legal Lamps (http://rallylights.com/Vision_Plus_Information.aspx)

Autopal lights, you'll get off Ebay. They'll cost the least. Autopal's Ebay Store. (http://stores.ebay.com/Autopal-Lights_200mm-H4-Headlights_W0QQ_fsubZ3749791QQ_sidZ107774186QQ_trk sidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322)

Hella offers 2 different housings, as I said. You get get them from Rallylights.com

Daniel Stern Lighting sells Cibie, which a lot of people consider the best (and also the most spendy).

Here's a link to Daniel Stern Lighting (http://danielsternlighting.com/). Click on products, and scroll down to towards the bottom and you'll see the H4 200mm housings.

Cibie is considered the best, but costs the most. I'd rate Hella E-Codes next. Autopals aren't bad, and they cost a lot less, which is why a lot of people run them.

Yes, you'll just need to buy a Hi-Lo H4 HID Kit (as opposed to a Low Beam only H4 HID kit). They cost a little more than a regular low only H4 HID kit.

Here's the HID kit you'll need. It's a Hi-Lo H4 HID kit. It's price is higher than the Low Beam only H4 kit, but that's because it includes the harness and relay you'll need to make it work properly.

DDM HID Kit Slim Ballast (35W or 55W) (http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim-Ballast-35W-or-55W).

It's $59.95 for a 35 watt Hi/Lo H4 kit, and $69.95 for a 55 watt Hi/Lo H4 HID Kit.

Here's a picture of the actual Hi/Lo H$ HID bulb.

Good stuff!! Good luck with the install :) Cleanest Duece05-14-2010, 09:01 AMhow difficult is the install? havent really looked at any threads on it eckoman_pdx05-14-2010, 06:21 PMhow difficult is the install? havent really looked at any threads on it

The Autopal housings? Easy, first remove the OEM light shroud (4 screws per shroud, 2 on each side of a shroud). From there, you'll see a metal trim ring that holds the sealed beam housing in place. It's help in place by 4 screws. 2 at the top, 2 at the bottom of each sealed beam. Remove all 4 screws, and then you can pull the metal trim ring off. From there, you can pull the sealed beam out. Then re-install it with the autopal H4 conversion housings instead, with installation the reverse of removal. It's just like replacing the OEM Sealed beams.

Well it's out, put the H4 HID Hi/Lo H4 bulbs in.

For install on those, you have to install the Hi/Lo bulbs a little different that standard H4 Halogen or H4 low beam only HID bulbs.

If you haven't, read the PDF I attached in the above post. I'll attach it below too to make things easy. Just download it and view it. It's the H4 Hi/Lo install guide for DDM Tuning's Hi/Lo H4 kit. It should give you a pretty good overview of how to install their kit. 1991MR2TURBOS09-24-2010, 11:08 PMyes can u post some pics cleanest duece?
