View Full Version : For Sale: 1989 NA 5-Speed Toyota MR2

skruyd02-23-2010, 12:31 AMQuick Sob story. I've got the car because my other MR2 developed a rod knock. So I sold the drivetrain and kept the shell for parts. Picked up the 89 MR2 because Lady spent to much money on getting it back running and it still didn't run. Well I got it running and three months later the headgasket went on me. Think it was my fault not cleaning the surface of the block that well. Had the head off because the rotor button was firing when it wanted to from a piece of the distributor jamming it in place. So it seized the exhaust valves on the cylinder three down. Any who, the lady kept all the service records. The motor has 35000 miles on it and it was rebuilt from grooms engines. The body is in good condition, has the rust on the rear quarter panels. Interior is in ok condition. Has no radio. Comes with parts car of same color, and the headgasket kit with bolts. Have to sell before the 25th of this month because I'm moving to Cali and have no money to ship out there. So if I can't sell it I'm going to scrap them both. Big loss but, I don't have the place or time to fix them.

Sorry for your bad luck, hate to see these go to scrap. Would you sell a few parts off them before they go? curvesrgood02-24-2010, 01:05 PMMan I wish these were a little closer... You're about a TN away from me, lol (Middle of lower NC here... just east of Charlotte). Pretty fair price on the two cars too. Hate you couldn't get one good one together out of the two :( bummer!! Actually if I had a trailer large enough to haul both cars I'd still consider it distance wise, but my trailer only holds one car per-trip :(. soldier14702-24-2010, 02:39 PMI know, right. I was contemplating throwing one in the bed of my truck and hauling the other one in a trailer.
