z Ice Dragon z01-23-2010, 12:14 AMNot sure if anyone has ever tried to fix a broken power tool or not, so If there aint anyone out there that can help it's all good, I only payed $10 for this.

I recently bought an Impact Wrench. It's a DC12v cigarette lighter powered one. Well it didn't work in my MR2, (blew the fuse). I tried it in my parts van, and still nothing, (not even a blown fuse.) So right now I have the cover off of it. I've looked at all the wires and transistors, and everything looks ok, but then again I have little electrical knowledge. Here's some pic's of what I got:

Which wire might I be looking for? sabing01-23-2010, 02:13 AMwhat were you going to use it for? i cant see a DC powered one having much torque.. z Ice Dragon z01-23-2010, 07:04 AMIt's an impact wrench, what else am I going to use it for? If I could get it to work, and it was strong enough, it sure would be nice to have in case of an emergency. 328FTW01-23-2010, 07:11 AMLooks like junk to me.

In an emergency I use this thing called a cross brace. Stay with me alright it is revolutionary you use the power of your arms to apply torque to your wheel nuts to tighten and loosen them. Also when I'm in a spot and need to undo a bolt I use this other thing called a ratchet thing blows my mind tightens AND loosens bolts at the flick of a switch. You interchange the end piece for when things are different sizes it is like WHOA why didn't I think of that. z Ice Dragon z01-23-2010, 08:22 AMLike OMG! I know that just sounds so logical. Gosh, I can't believe I didn't think of something like that.

But in all seriousness. I have 2 cross braces in my car and I have a torque wrench with atleast 30 different bits for....Simply put, you can never have enough tools. PHOENIX01-23-2010, 08:52 AMSimply put, you can never have enough tools.

Couldn't agree more! canadam01-23-2010, 08:05 PMSorry man, couldn't tell you why it's not working without playing around with a multimeter or something. z Ice Dragon z01-23-2010, 10:47 PMMaybe I can take it to the Hobby Shop and see if they can run a test on it. Or just tell them it's theres and they need to fix it. lol sabing01-25-2010, 10:45 PMWell I understand what you meant to use it for.. but I just have a hard time seeing that little thing be able to move much. z Ice Dragon z01-25-2010, 10:51 PMEveryone doubted the Tortoise. canadam01-25-2010, 11:07 PMThe tortoise never wins as a rule, he just got lucky that one time and people have used it as an excuse not to give 100% ;) Fabulousj7902-09-2010, 08:05 PMI doubt anyone makes an electric impact gun on 12 volts that could remove a valve cover bolt.

It looks like a small electric motor with a micro switch. Get a test light (may cost you more than $10 if you don't have one) and check to see if you have power at the motor (round thing with 2 wires on the left) when you pull the trigger. If you do and it still doesn't work, try tapping on the motor with the handle end of the screw driver. You may try disconnecting the motor from the anvil assembly on the right. If you still have nothing, I would say the motor is burned out.

If you have no power to the motor, check for power at the micro switch. If no power at the switch, check behind the diode. If no power at the diode check the input power at the bottom.

Or, you could save yourself a lot of time and trouble and throw that pos in the garbage where it belongs! LOL! Fixing this thing is a lost cause brother. Get AAA.
