View Full Version : Right place to post? shipping help please.

Brokenline03-16-2006, 02:07 AMwell im not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i need help with shipping a pair of toms skirts and a toms rear bumper. ive never shipped anything this big before and would just like to get pointed the right direction. im from Ca. 91792 and the buyer is from Canada V5J2N5.

any info regarding, which boxes, company wrapping and securing would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

-paul Gairloch03-16-2006, 03:28 AMFor strange sized stuff like that you're probably going to have to fabricate boxes, taping boxes together securely to make one big enough. For cumbersome delicate stuff like that I would also recommend that you use styrofoam packing peanuts to protect 'em. Pretty much all this stuff you can find in recycling bins behind minimalls so you don't need to pay for it.

International shipping is a PITA, Canada especially so. I would find a shipper that can handle the delivery point to point and doesn't pass it off. FedEx and DHL is where I'd check first. Figure out the packaging first then call up all the shippers you can think of with the package dimensions and weight to shop for price.

As for packaging techique; make sure that you don't leave hanging edges and when in doubt add more tape. Don't use cheap tape ;) Brokenline03-16-2006, 10:04 PMThanks man. appreciate it. i guess ill be off on a box hunt this weekend. do you have a ball park figure in mind how much it would cost to ship these items? G3aR03-17-2006, 06:16 AMtake it to a UPS store. they will usualy have something for ya Gairloch03-18-2006, 05:47 AMThanks man. appreciate it. i guess ill be off on a box hunt this weekend. do you have a ball park figure in mind how much it would cost to ship these items?

Honestly, for shipping to Canada I really have no clue. I've never tried to ship something that large internationally before. Of the shippers I have worked with FedEx has been the most economical for packages over 4 lbs.

Shop the price around and do whatever you can to keep it out of the hands of the Canadian postal system. They tie your **** up for weeks upon weeks unless you pay crazy expedited shipping fees. This means no USPS. Ncturnal03-18-2006, 08:55 AMI've always used FedEx International Ground for stuff going to Canada, although I don't know about a box that big. :( ALLSHOTUP03-18-2006, 01:09 PMI tend to use Fed EX the most as well when we ship materials to Canada. I would stay away from Drunks Have Licenses and Unhealthy Packaging Services heading to Canada. I have had past experiences with them that have not been fun.

Eric Brokenline03-20-2006, 08:34 AMThanks for all the info guys. Im thinking im just gonna try to sell this thing locally first. i might just be setting myself up for a big headache here. Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
