View Full Version : Restoring the SW21

Kw8z3boi10-02-2009, 02:15 PMFirst, I live to reintroduce myself, I'm Steve. I've been saving up for a MKII for awhile, now I finally got one. I been having this SW21 for 1.5 months already. I'm completely new to the Toyota World.

About my SW21: It drives fine, the previous owner I bought the car from was a D!ckhead, after I bought the car, he never respond back to any of my calls/text/email. Anyway, next day after I bought the car, when I start the car, there was a bunch of white smoke came out of the exhaust, I'm assuming that's a blown head gasket right? Well the car has a Salvage Title, was hit on the front passenger side. Interior was horrible, it was dirty, Headunit didn't even hook up right, but I restore the interior back to normal now. Now the hardest part is restoring the exterior since I'm really broke from buying this car and insurance.

Anyway, everyday I have mix feeling about this car, whether I should keep it and finish what I started or sell it and get what I wanted. Reason I want to sell it because is gonna take me a lot of time and money to work on it, plus the headgasket replacement might be a bishhhhh to fix. Plus, I hate it how non power everything and I always wanted a T-Top.

Well here goes my build.

Hopefully it will be dropped soon with a stagger setup

My first Mod was the exhaust. Not the best looking but I couldn't sell the exhaust over a year.

Temporary rice stage because I lost the oem bumper on the freeway since the dumbass previous owner zipped tie most of the part that was suppose to bolt on. Also I painted the hood and lid because I always like the look of hood and top black.

finally, this is where it will begin. This bumper was a beeshhh to fit, it would fit right unless I take off the bumper support. I'm planning on getting the clear blinkers

Picked up the molding and reflector a few days ago since that side was missing it

I'll post more pic later. Btw, if I sell the car, what would you guys think is a alright price to post? RePete10-02-2009, 05:12 PMI think you've done a good job so far. Your mixed feelings are because of all the work you're doing on it. These cars are fantastic if they're in good shape. But like any car, you get sick of them and they're blamed as junk if they're smashed or neglected like yours was by the previous owner - that definitely sours the experience.

You've gone this far, I'd keep going. And T-tops ain't as dreamy as you think, you should be happy you have a nice solid, non-leaky sunroof. :) Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
