I know.. kinda bugged me out when I saw it, but luckally even though some of the bolt and brackets are rusted pretty badly the body is great. I just acouple of small spots to touch up. MadMonk02-11-2009, 04:12 PMI didn't know there was a write up on making them. Like everyone, mine were junk too but I found a forum member who sold me 2 in excellent shape. If not I was going to make my own, has to be one of the easiest things to build for the car.

I'll bet Toyota got them from a supplier who made them from crap steel as they are pretty much dust on all the older cars while other similar items are fine. No way to find out but I'll bet that's what happened but Toyota wouldn't know it until the cars had been in the field for many years so they kept buying from the same supplier. Mine have a little rattle so they are starting to rust from the inside out so I'll make a pair while I have 2 good ones for a pattern. impr3zd02-19-2009, 03:53 PMI needed the same thing. Look at my post unde Lythia Toyoata Illonois
