View Full Version : Car is killing and I have no clue why...

cdallen02-07-2006, 04:54 PMMy 2 kills when it goes to a low idle only after driving, but not while the car is in neutral just idling. Does anyone know why this is hapening? 5FistsoftheNorthStar02-07-2006, 05:16 PMDoes it have problems idling when warming up the engine? If it does then its most likely an ignition problem. My car would idle and die if I didn't push on the gas when it warms up. It drives fine after I get it going on the road, but then it'll die at the light if I'm there too long. This also killed my turbo timer for a while. That and because I didn't know what the hell else was wrong with the TT. Haha!

Anyhoo, check your ignition components, especially the cap and rotor. I replaced those and BAM!!! Car runs like new and my turbo timer came back to life!!! Hope that helps a little. N8s93turbo02-07-2006, 05:27 PMAnyhoo, check your ignition components, especially the cap and rotor.
Thats were i'd start. Let us know if that helped. Have you changed the spark plugs recently? If so check the gap. cdallen02-07-2006, 05:48 PMIt runs fine on start up, it only dies after driving it. what is the normal idle rpm for a 93 turbo? N8s93turbo02-07-2006, 05:51 PMaround 500 rpm if i remember correctly 5FistsoftheNorthStar02-07-2006, 06:39 PMIts 500-1k Mister2.202-07-2006, 09:39 PMI would check all the standard things that should be checked. Ignition parts, cap, rotor, plugs, make sure your plug wires are not brittle. Check the gap on your plugs.

Make sure theres no oil in your intake, clean out the tb with some O2 safe Carb Cleaner... check ground wires. All this should be done if you have not anyhow. 3sgtepower02-12-2006, 09:58 AMMy car tends to die at idle when the plugs are on there way out. A set of new plugs fixxes this for the most part. Tuna02-17-2006, 04:59 PMchris, incase you didn't get my e-mail, the problem is in the tuning somewhere on the link plus...the msd ignition on the car is pretty new, and i just changed the plugs about a month before you bought it (probably 500 miles on them)...the wires are brand new as well...other than that, how has everything else been?
