my motor is pretty funky with non grease stuff.... what's the best way to remove this crap without taking anything out of my bay? GR8MR205-31-2008, 11:34 PMI'd start by doing an engine bay cleaning. You might want to do this in the street or pull onto a tarp as the grunge that is released will likely stain the driveway.

Cover any exposed electrical contacts with plastic. Then spray down everything gently with a hose using a fine spray. Next, spray everything with a citrus cleaner. Let it sit for five minutes and rinse with the garden hose. If there are stubborn areas re-spray with the cleaner and agitate with a brush. Rinse well and then blow it out well with an air compressor. Be sure to get as much water out as possible.

Now start the car and let it idle for a few minutes to warm the engine. This should help in the drying process. Don't let the engine get hot for now. When dry, spray everything evenly with CD/2 Engine Detailer. This is an acrylic based spray that dries hard so as not to attract dirt and dust. After an even spray coating everything, restart the engine and let it run for 10-15 minutes to get everything hot. This will set up the acrylic and you will be amazed at how good things now look.

Here is what mine looks like after this process.

Here is what CD/2 looks like. It's sometimes hard to find but Amazon has it in stock if you can't get it locally.
