Midnight_Raven04-10-2008, 07:13 AMOkay as some of you know I just got my car about 1 month ago and the best thing about the car was the paint. I've been having tons of bad luck with this car due to repairs and things breaking. Well yesterday has gotten me thinking I really do have bad luck. I was walking up the hill to go to class when I look I see what seems to be a lot of leaves piled around the front of my car. I go take a closer look and the whole front of my car is covered in leaves dirt and stones!!! I haven't cleaned the car because I dont' want to see my paint full of rock chips and s**t.... :mad: I'm assuming damn plant services had a guy leaf blowing the grass and just sent all that s**t flying at my car without a care in the world. So to avoid this again I'm parking in another lot that doesn't have leaves laying around. All this would been avoided though if they let me park in indoor parking structure that no one uses but apparently is full :wtf: Hopefully I can go clean it today and not find too much rock chips. Sorry just need to vent a little...

So the question if my paint has lots of small scratches what could I do to remove them without having to repaint it? Fazed Out04-10-2008, 11:35 AMIf it's a leafblower, chances are the scratches won't be that deep. You can probably just buff them out. I'd suggest 3M's Rubbing Compound. Takes care of most smaller scratches. Available at your local autoparts store.

As long as the scratches don't go into the primer, you can definately fix it. eckoman_pdx04-10-2008, 11:44 AMSorry to here about some jerk with a leaf blower flinging crap onto your car. People have no respect for others property. There was this crazy street cleaning guy who used to come whizzing lot by my other car while cleaning the parking when I visited a friend at their swing shift job. Finally I had to go out and talk to the jerk and tell him too be careful. He actually listened cuz he liked the car, hahahaha. Would go REALLY slow anywhere near my car after that.

Anyways, back on topic...

You can try wetsanding them out if they are really bad and won't buff out. Also you can try taking a rotary to the area with a cutting pad and the proper cutting compound, followed by a polishing pad and polishing compound. Is your paint basecoat/clearcoat or single stage. A rotary is the only buffer capable of removing paint and thereby defects. mr220v04-10-2008, 01:35 PMThis past fall, the guys came by with a leaf blower a few times. I had parked my mk1 for a few weeks. When I went to drive it, the leaves had been blown up and into my engine bay. They were just packed in there, all around the exhaust and everything.
