CkretAjint12-13-2005, 03:41 PMWhelp, my good friend took the plunge yesterday and purchased an MR2. It is a white 1991 w/ a GReddy turbo upgrade. It doesnt start right now and needs A-L-O-T of TLC (tender lovin care). She needs a new head gasket, randomly overheats, cranks but wont turn over right now, new seats, a new paint job, a new door, a new rocker panel and various other things. But we will love her as much as our other cars.

But we got her for one hell of a price, and both feel it was worth it. Our other friend we bought it off of feels bad that he is selling us this "heap". But we enjoy it and I have ALWAYS dreamed of owning an MKII Turbo, and I guess he caught the bug as well.

If anyone would like to help us resurect her, and get her started, we live in Broward County (S FL). We are always willing to hang out and work on cars with fellow tuners and would love to meet some other MR2 owners in the area. Just shoot me an email. CkretAjint@yahoo.com CkretAjint12-13-2005, 03:43 PMAwww, that sucks. I guess I have no skills either (according to under my user name) *insert sad face*

LOL Weasy2k12-13-2005, 03:48 PMlol it takes work to upgrade to bowstaff skillz.....

good luck on project....i love that kind of thing...total resto :P I got one im doing already and my tacoma as well needs work and upgrades (mmm carputer) so im kinda busy :(....

Where you located anyway?

once again good luck and keep us posted! CkretAjint12-13-2005, 03:55 PMBeleive it or not, he got the MR2 as a project car, since his old daily driver was his project car and broke every week. Needless to say he is tired of fixing it, so he intends to stop modding the daily driver (96 eclipse rs) and work on the MR2 and just keep the eclipse running.

We both live in southeastern FL. Weasy2k12-13-2005, 03:59 PM(96 eclipse rs) and work on the MR2 and just keep the eclipse running.

We both live in southeastern FL.

Thats a task and half on its own! :D

hehe what kind of things is he planning? CkretAjint12-13-2005, 04:04 PMThats a task and half on its own! :D

Tell me about it. litterally EVERY WEEKEND, we are fixing it.

hehe what kind of things is he planning?

Who knows, right now we just would like to get it running. I know he would like to make a drag car out of it. Me? I would just make a kick as sporty around town car. Just to cruise and kick some ass in.

I know that he wants to upgrade the IC and BOV, standard begginner things. I have tried to tell him he doesnt need a new BOV, but he wants the ricer 'pppsssshhhhhhhhh' sound, LOL. Weasy2k12-13-2005, 04:08 PMno stay away form BOV there is no nweed...it just leads to some blakc smoke coming out of the tail pipe everytime it goes off...
intercooler is pritty good but get a bolt on turbo first...like a CT20b or CT27 upgrades that you can find...

That along with replacing the downpipe with something higherflowing will = a peppy car :) CkretAjint12-13-2005, 04:47 PMget a bolt on turbo first. . .along with replacing the downpipe

The 2 already came with a turbo upgrade, it is the basic GReddy upgrade that bolts to the stock manifold. I am researching down pipes now. Is there any one size that yields better results? I know anything larger than stock is better, but I do not want to go TOO large, and hinder performance.

I am TRYING to talk him out of a BOV. . . *trys harder* lol Weasy2k12-13-2005, 05:13 PMholy shit where was i....lol i forogt about that....
that greddy kit iw ould get the ats downpipe to replace the greddy one becuase aparently the greddy one cracks and gets all f*ed up :P Alex12-13-2005, 08:30 PMA few MR2 specific sites so you know what parts are available for these cars:
www.koracing.com
www.atsracing.com
www.twosrus.com
www.mr2oc.com www.mr2trader.com
www.wolfkatz.com

I assume the Greddy turbo you're refering to is the TD06? If so, ATS makes an upgrade kit to eliminate the problems from the greddy kit.
Good luck with the project! Let us know if you have any questions. mikeswickednick12-13-2005, 08:30 PMsard makes a nice dp, KO has one, so does SSautocrome but i woudlnt recomendthem

u could always make one ur self! Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
