--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
just letting everyone here know that we have been in the process of having a turbo made very similar to the BLITZ K1 380-v. for anyone who doesn't know the turbo is a direct bolt on (same as a ct20b externally) and is highly modified internally. initial estimates are that the turbo will be capable of producing 350-400whp with the correct supporting mods.
FAQ:
1) this turbo is completly NEW and not rebuilt/upgraded stock parts
2) there is no core required for purchase
3) retail cost should be under $1,000 USD
4) this turbo is externally identical to the CT20b from a gen3 MR2 or Celica so it will bolt on to any gen2 and 3 engine no problem. will fit gen1 (all-trac) with modification unless it's already using a gen2 CT26 or variation and will fit a gen4 (Caldina) if a gen3 exhaust manifold is used and downpipe/cat/whatever.
5) this turbo will come with the wastegate actuator
6) the stock oil feed/return lines will fit correctly
7) the stock coolant lines will fit correctly
8) gen2 3sgte or gen3 3sgte downpipes, stock or aftermarket, will work with this turbo (correct for their application of course)
9) we do have a test group almost completly full for guinea pigs (IE: reduced cost)
10) there will be an initial "group buy" on these turbos
the main reason we decided to go this oute is partially a fluke.... just happened to come across a company willing to remake the entire turbocharger for us for a pretty reasonable cost (comparativly speaking). was inquiring about custom turbo parts and just asked the right question (divine interention?) at the right time to the right guy willing to tackle the task. the other part of the reason is i live in California where the smog nazis roam free and tighten the noose almost daily on modifies cars. the only way i could be certain to have a customer pass emissions was to have the stock or stock/upgraded turbo on the car at emissions time... yeah.... turbo kits can slide by lazy smog techs but some folks just want the comfort and security of knowing that the turbo won't be any sort of issue whatsoever + have the ability to push 400whp while looking bone stock (exhausts are EASY to change!).
so here you have it.. the NEW "kid" on the block.... hope it meets your visual expectations
PICS here of the first turbo off the assembly line:

once the turbo is here (early next week) we'll test fit it and see if here is anything which needs modified there... if good in that department then we'll start running it for a short time and then get 10 more ordered for the test group.
if interested in being a "tester" email me at the_mister3@yahoo.com and i'll see what i can do for ya!

Ben03-29-2008, 12:28 AMAre these ball bearing or journal bearing? That is cool that it is pretty much a stock CT26, but brand new! Looks just like it down to the wastegate. mister303-29-2008, 12:55 AMthese are journal bearing turbos similar to OEM. would cost WAY too much to outfit the CHRA with ball bearings mister304-10-2008, 06:58 AMCRW CT26 compressor side

hopefully they will be packaged better when production begins.... Luni05-09-2008, 04:52 PMAny new news on this? I want badly to see testing on this. mister305-10-2008, 07:35 PMnothing new to report as of now. waiting on another version with so additional modifications so fitament will be better. also i damaged the original sample and want to tbe able to test one which isn't damaged yet.... oops!

well... am hoping to get the next sample in within the next week to 2 weeks. have had a few setbacks but hopefully this new version will be what we're looking for. the version pictured was close but didn't quite make the grade as far as fitament and since it got damaged there was no real testing done to it. Read line 3 ;). I am sure he'll post a price when he has it all finalized and such.
How much later we talking for BB? Like 2-3 months? A year? mister305-21-2008, 07:30 PMso what's the price range going to be with these?
well... a ballpark estimate would be a price starting at around $1100 and going up from there. it will be reconfigurable so there will be many options available. HP ranges should be able to be from 300whp to 600whp
but for now this is just ballpark estimate... not set in stone. i'd suspect at least 1 year before this becomes a reality... PearlJammzz05-28-2008, 03:52 PMOuch, that far out then aye? the turbo is being developed between 2 different companies. one is "roughing out" the turbo and the other company is finishing it to insure the highest quality possible. mike206-03-2008, 10:21 AMImm interested in being one of the testers if your keen in sending one to sydney australia? :D

we can send one to Australia no problem when the time comes. just email me direct so i can keep your email on file and will give everyone a heads up when the program starts. right now am just waiting on the next sample to test fit and run. mike206-07-2008, 06:26 PMjust curious what are the technical spec sheets of this turbo build? t4 style internals, trim, a/r? i can see that it uses 6 impeller wheels on the cold side vs 5 but what else is in store? :) mister306-08-2008, 09:04 AMjust curious what are the technical spec sheets of this turbo build? t4 style internals, trim, a/r? i can see that it uses 6 impeller wheels on the cold side vs 5 but what else is in store? :)

What mods are we talking about? How close to completely stock will produce these results? Guess the real question is, What engine specs were used to come up with the numbers using this produce? As we all know some of us are completely stock and some are completely modified, trying to gauge how this will work for different people. mister306-16-2008, 04:37 PMestimates are that the turbo will be capable of producing 350-400whp with the correct supporting mods.

well.... On a bone stock car the turbo won't be the limiting factor.. The fuel system, intake mnnifold, dp, exhaust, intercooler, etc will all need upgraded to see max potential from t
His turbo. If we packaged this with ATS ROM tune, boredfuel rail, fpr, 550s you should be able-to see 325 on 93 pump and 350 ish on race gas.... Also considering you have downpipe, exhaust, intercooler and possibly upgraded CVs to help make the power easier..... hehe... in short yes. but the turbos will go through complete insopection and everything before they are shipped out.... there should be as much of an issue with engine failure with this turbo as with any other on the market... it won't shatter into pieces and ruin your engine... if it does we'll be talking ;) canadam06-16-2008, 08:07 PMPM me the specifics regarding being a tester, Josh. those wanting to be on the tester list can email me the_mister3@yahoo.com mister303-19-2009, 09:41 PMhere are teaser pics of the supra bolt on exhaust housing we could have used if we wanted to go this route (still can if someone doesn't care about OEM DP/cat firament).

the exhaust housing for this model (supra bolt on) is investment cast stainless steel and is of the highest quality in regards to design, manufacture (USA!), machining, etc. nothing else which bolts on compares at all... guaranteed!
the MR2 turbo is being built this exact same way with the highest quality and standards available which is why this project is taking more time than anticipated... but as you can see from the pics the castings will be absolutly perfect! this is another reason i am 110% confident our true MR2 bolt on will kick ass and take names ;) mister303-19-2009, 09:45 PM**UPDATE** the turbo is being finished at the builders and should be here early next week for test fitting and possibly initial dyno figures.
the car: 92 NA hardtop w/gen3 swap. just dynoed tuesday 241WHP 244WTQ @15psi boost. relevant mods are: HKS dual dragger exhaust, K&N drop in air filter (stock airbox), turboXS MBC. the rest of the engine is stock and still has stock IC and primary cat.... so we'll see how it compares with stock cat vs ct20b. canadam03-19-2009, 09:47 PMCan't wait, thanks Josh.

i'll have to double check on the costs but i'm hoping we can keep the water cooled journal bearing model at around $1475 MSRP mister303-19-2009, 10:40 PMIt looks so nice so far. This might be my choice for a turbo when it gets done. :)
this will hands down be the best choice for anyone wanting the stock look and PLENTY of performance potential.
due to the restrictivness of the stock exhaust manifold around 500-550whp we're not going to make any claims that it'll hit 600whp but we can configure turbos from ct20 range to GT35R range which should get stock looking cars to the 500 or so whp range very nicely ;) RoadRunner03-24-2009, 09:02 PMWow I just saw this today... right now... very freaking nice.

as of yesterday we're about a week out on the MR2 unit... they did send me a ST165/supra unit to make a DP for and piddle with in the meantime... will get pics of it once DP is fabbed up and get some dyno runs in. won't be exactly sane spool as the MR2 version since it's a T4 based internal scroll on exhaust housing and the MR2 version will be .63AR t3 internal scroll exhaust housing. canadam06-04-2009, 09:05 PM...anything? mister306-04-2009, 09:49 PM...anything?

haven't scrapped the idea it's just taking MUCH longer for the second version to get built... the first version didn't turn out as expected so had to scrap that plan and work on another idea... so just taking a while to be completed is all. 2fast4u03-30-2010, 03:58 PMYou think it will be done sometime this year or no clue? mister303-30-2010, 07:10 PMYou think it will be done sometime this year or no clue?

is there any chance that the ctd06 will ever be a reality? the idea is a very good one! mister304-19-2012, 12:57 AMhey mister3. i was really hoping you would've came out with these. they would revolutionize the mr2 community in a HUGE way! i can see these selling like hotcakes because of being a bolt-on solution for good power. at that point, everybody and their mother would forget about used ct20b's and ct27's and jump on board with the ctd06.

there is a chance this may become a reality... i have several ways of going about this.
first round = DUD... no good
second round = not sure yet as i haven't been able to get it dialed on a car yet so may be dud also?
third round = HIGH cost of admission... tried to keep the cost down on my end but it's doubtful that can happen and has taken a LONG time so far
fourth round = totally new way to build a turbo to fit the MR2... will take alot of work but doable if 2 and 3 don't pan out
the other factor in this is the amount of time i have to devove to the project which is almost nothing right as of now. the wheels whir in the brain but don't make it further because of the workload here and the manpower (me) hmong33704-19-2012, 01:23 AMthere is a chance this may become a reality... i have several ways of going about this.

That's too bad... Seriously though, this has to come out. You California guys are always bitching about a "stock looking" solution. This would fit the bill- and then some! CA mr2 guys would buy these up without a doubt. Who the hell wants to spend $1000+ on a CT27 anyways?! I'm not slandering ATS' product as it's good for the power goals it makes, but I believe the reason a lot of guys choose to go CT27 is simply due to being a bolt-on affair. This product would trump that big time.
Hope things work out with this product. I really would like to see it come into fruition. I can tell LOTS of people are hoping for something like this to happen. The days of spending a fortune on a complete turbo setup to get over 280whp will be over. OVER! mister304-19-2012, 01:52 AMThat's too bad... Seriously though, this has to come out. the turbo upgrade is still in progress. have tried and tried many different things which haven't worked out so well but FINALLY have something that should work. expect some updates within the next few months.
in other bolt on turbo news:
we do have upgraded CT20b builds available starting at $750
stage1 +25-50hp = stock size billet compressor wheel, inconel turbine wheel, upgraded bearings/seals, turbine housing work. $750 you need to supply a good core
**coming soon** stage1.5 +40-75hp = same as above with 2mm larger billet compressor wheel. estimated cost $800-850
**maybe?** stage2 +100hp = same as stage 1.5 but 2mm larger turbine wheel = $850-950
CT15/caldina/gen4/gen5 turbo upgrade:
+50-75hp = larger billet compressor wheel, upgraded bearings/seals, turbine housing work $650 you must send in rebuildable core. if turbine wheel needs replaced add $100 Benckj12-18-2013, 07:04 PMInteresting concept. My Ct20b is still good but would consider a reliable upgrade when you get there. Little more puff at higher RPM's
would certainly keep me going.
jimb mister312-18-2013, 10:14 PMright now the stage 1 CT20 upgrade is a upgrade over stock just not the most we can get from it. sometime in the near future we will have a oversized compressor wheel (stage 1.5) which will help make more power. if running stock or rom tuned ecu and 540/550cc injectors the stage 1 upgrade will more than be enough to round out the package nicely. temperacerguy05-02-2014, 10:47 PMThis is an idea I would be very interested in. Especially a BB option capable of 350 ish HP with transitional response. I am interested, but don't hold much hope after 5 years of non-development. Don't worry Josh, I have been in the same situation as you, so I am not slamming you. mister305-05-2014, 04:26 PMam closer now to getting the project finished to a point which will be the 350whp range. working out a way to increase HP potential and hopefully not have it cost a bloody fortune temperacerguy05-06-2014, 04:12 AMam closer now to getting the project finished to a point which will be the 350whp range. working out a way to increase HP potential and hopefully not have it cost a bloody fortune
Do you foresee a full BB option being available in the near future, or is that far off? Also, What are you expecting for a final cost for a BB option? While this sounds appealing, the cost of a GT28RS is dropping down to the $1100 range, and a guy like me with fab skills can weld up the associated hardware pretty for pretty cheap. mister305-06-2014, 06:12 PMDo you foresee a full BB option being available in the near future, or is that far off?
