Ncturnal11-03-2005, 12:31 AMWe have laid the framework for a very informative MR2 FAQ section on mr2board.com but we need assistance with gathering information, writing articles, etc. If you've ever been to NSXPrime and seen their FAQ, you'll know what I'm talking about. There's alot of info out there, but nothing organized in one place. We want something better than a bunch of sticky threads. Please post here if you are willing to assist. AceX11-03-2005, 12:57 AMI can help you write this thing if you'd like. PM me if you would like some assistance. Node11-03-2005, 05:53 PMI will offer my services aswell ;) JCrew7i211-03-2005, 05:57 PMHere too buddy... You're* :p mr2greasemonkey11-10-2005, 09:00 PMAfter much deliberation I've decided to offer some help. Something we do with the Moua Brothers Workshop group, take pictures of projects as they are being done. For example, building an engine. Lots of pictures of how things look and how things go together. Not a lot of it currently organised though. So, for example, if we took step by step pictures of the next 5sfe timing belt we do with tools and specs. Or step by step pictures of how we build some of our custom mods. We generally tend to catalog a lot of specs and information when we repair or build something. Anyhow, let me know what you think. DaveMush11-11-2005, 09:31 AMI can write some on the topic of MKII V6 swaps... Mister-Twoster11-11-2005, 09:53 AMI am in the middle of doing a 5sfte conversion. I was planning on creating a huge, detailed (with pictures) writeup for it would be glad to let you use it. I cant say when i will be done with it though... hopefully before the end of december. If things keep going they way they have been for me, ill have her finished before end of november! richw13111-11-2005, 11:02 AMYep..Yep... turboguy11-12-2005, 11:13 AMI'll offer my services as well :D AceX11-12-2005, 09:13 PMI'll offer my services as well :D

thanks! mr2greasemonkey11-25-2005, 02:50 PMSo, just wondering what's going on with the whole tech section? Ncturnal12-05-2005, 10:55 AMAfter much deliberation I've decided to offer some help. That would be sweet! Ncturnal12-05-2005, 10:57 AMThanks for all of the help everyone. I may make a forum for this and come up with specific topics. I was thinking we could write-up an MR2 buying guide to be posted here and at XCARS/Trader. Any swap right-ups are definitely welcome. Pretty much anything really. It would be an ongoing and long process, but it's something I think would be beneficial. Weasy2k12-05-2005, 01:36 PMwoot love the idea and would love to help out as well....
I suck at grammer so the "board grammer patrol" can help me out on that....

I type to fast for my own good :) canadam12-05-2005, 01:41 PMJohnny, the word is grammar and the correct 2 is too.

I have the v6 swap and mr2 buyers guide (the older one) issues of SCC, I could dig them up if you think they would be usefull mr2greasemonkey12-05-2005, 08:50 PMShoot....wish you would've gotten back to me sooner. Just did a project on how to build a front brace for a MKII for under $20. Ncturnal12-05-2005, 08:53 PMShoot....wish you would've gotten back to me sooner. Just did a project on how to build a front brace for a MKII for under $20.

I'm always interested in anything and everything as far as MR2 related technical "How to" articles are concerned. Articles like that can benefit the community for years to come. :) mr2greasemonkey12-05-2005, 09:04 PMKools! Was wondering if i should do a tech on how to disassemble yr speedo and roll back the mileage to "000000". Just did that for project91 since it's got zero miles on the fresh engine, LOL. http://www.ncturnal.com/smiles/nervous.gif mr2greasemonkey12-05-2005, 09:22 PMMAD SKILLZZZ.....LOL. You should IM me sometime Ncturnal, sure you'd like to see some pics of project91. Node is the only other person, not local, that's seen some of my mods. Weasy2k12-07-2005, 03:15 AMdont post that tech guide man lol :) not smart i dont want to see more 40k 4k mile old cars out there :P mr2greasemonkey12-08-2005, 08:45 PMhaha....far as posting tech guides on " how to ", i was figurin you'd tell me what you want and i'd make one. That way would be best for people that dont have any idea how to do something. Keep in mind i have a whole shop to work with so some tech guides would still be a lot of work for most people. Currently helping someone with installing a fuel system. From installing a fuel cell to plumbing the filter and pump all the way to the engine. Going to be building a rear brace for Project91 here in the next month or so. Weasy2k12-09-2005, 01:57 AMGoing to be building a rear brace for Project91 here in the next month or so.

I want one :) mr2greasemonkey12-09-2005, 09:24 PMBe patient...it'll get done sooner or later, haha. I'll try and post pic's of the front brace soon. Node hasnt seen it yet but he already wants one too, LOL. PHOENIX12-10-2005, 10:02 AMcount me in on this, anything you need....just ask. Ncturnal12-10-2005, 10:53 AMI created a new Content Development forum in which we'll bring up topics that are good candidates for an FAQ item. We'll compile the information, validate it, and then post it in the FAQ section. Ncturnal12-10-2005, 08:30 PMHere is an example of one of our FAQ items recently posted. It will have a link to an associated content development thread if update requests need to be posted. We will also include a link to the contributors profile, and date the article. This is a very basic example. The FAQ is coded in html and can be very spruced up and very detailed if necessary. For those that are web savvy, article could be contributed in html format.

http://www.mr2board.com/forums/faq.php?faq=toyota_general_info#faq_toyota_engine_ codes AceX12-11-2005, 12:32 AMTo help with things a little, I have created a thread for links to various site in the Computer Support section. I would have over 100 links to give you guys, but my HDD took a big crap on me and I lost EVERYTHING, so I gave you most of what I have so far been able to recover. PHOENIX12-11-2005, 01:36 AMdefinatly want to see lots of "how to write-ups" such as replacing a starter on a mk1 with pictures. Things like that would help out, and like ace has done, a links section for different things with categories like......5sfe or 3sge aftermarket mods. AceX12-12-2005, 12:16 AMI personally think that a large link database would help to set the board a little higher and make it an even more valuable asset to the community. Even if WE don't have the information you are looking for, we know where to find it.

Anyway, that's my 2cents for now. I'm going to try and recover a few more links that I lost. AceX12-18-2005, 02:46 AMSo anyway, just started to write a series of tutorials in the computer support section on PC customization. I'll tey and post 1-2 pieces a week if possible. canadam12-18-2005, 05:57 AMThanks Matt. maybe something like this?

Struts

Kyb Agx inserts www.kyb.com
Tokico inserts www.tokico.com
tien coilovers www.tien.com
jic coilovers www.jic.com

Springs

eibach www.eibach.com
trd www.trd.com
and so on
and so on
and so on
and so on

something like this? id like to get started on this if this is what everyone wants. But we definatly need a link section. Just need to figure out a format for it. AceX12-19-2005, 04:48 AMSomething like that maybe be part of what may attract people. I was thinking of links that are more MR2 specific though, but those are a very good start. PHOENIX12-20-2005, 02:29 AMya, i was just doing that as an example....more something like i did with the intercoolers and dowpipe section that i made in the 3sgte section, but without the data and pictures that i posted. Nepherim12-20-2005, 08:16 PMI hesitated in responding to this thread -- I don't want to switch out anyone's ideas. I've been working on getting content and FAQ's up on the MR2 wiki (http://www.mr2wiki.com/), and need some help in creating content -- could we some how team up and put the FAQ/write-up's over there where they are easily eidtable, and continue to make use of the forums as disucssion areas? Basically it looks like the wiki has some traction (lots of hits, etc), but right now it's basically just me creating content. Perhaps we can leverage the community here to create publically editable material recorded on the wiki? Nepherim12-29-2005, 10:53 PMLooks like the MR2 wiki (http://www.mr2wiki.com) is going to be the place we'll try to focus the write-ups, with link backs to the forum to encourage discussions. A wiki for those who may not know is a web-site that's free for anyone to add/change, which makes it a great way to pool resources together -- more info on the on the wiki (http://www.mr2wiki.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.TheWiki).

Over the next couple of days, we'll copy many of the write-ups here over to the wiki.

Feel free to add more to the wiki topic request (http://www.mr2wiki.com/pmwiki/index.php?n=Main.TopicRequests) section. Those in the know, feel free to start creating those requested topics! If you think a topic is going to take a while to research, add yer name next to the topic so we can get some collaboration going.

So, for those who volunteered so far, hit me up and let's get some more content up there. Oh, and if there's anyone out there with a MKIII... we dun have nada, so go wild :)

Oh, and if anyone can come up with a better logo (around the same size) lemme know.

mikeswickednick: Turbo swap is a great one... you up for it? :)

mr2greasemonkey: Sounds like a great offer. Feel free to send me what you have if you don't have the time (or inclination) to create organize/write-up yourself.

Mister-Twoster: You jest about pumpin gas... we'll there's already topics on gas mileage (http://www.mr2wiki.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php?n=MKI.FuelMileage) and MKII (http://www.mr2wiki.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php?n=MKII.FuelMileage). Put yer keyboard on :)

PHOENIX: I added your request to the topics request (http://www.mr2wiki.com/pmwiki/index.php?n=Main.TopicRequests), and there's a small links section (http://www.mr2wiki.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.Links), feel free to restructure/add to it.

Note: I put a password on Uploads to stop random crap getting on there -- between you and me the p/w is "bluetwo". PHOENIX12-30-2005, 12:19 PMi think im gonna go buck wild on the links section, thanks nepherim. Nepherim12-30-2005, 11:00 PMLooks like the MR2 wiki (http://www.mr2wiki.com) is going to be the place we'll try to focus the write-ups, with link backs to the forum to encourage discussions.
Looks like that announcement was a little premature. The board will continue with it's push to create write-ups and content on the forum -- Ncturnal will continue with that effort.

Note that the wiki will continue, so offers for contributions there are still very welcome! Ncturnal12-30-2005, 11:07 PMThat is partially my fault and I offer my apologies. I thought the developing the Wiki was a good idea, and was even one of the ones to suggest it being our official FAQ, however we have decided against putting all of our effort toward developing another site that we have no control over. Definitely nothing personal, and we still plan to help with development of the Wiki, but our primary objective will remain developing content on MR2Board first. Ncturnal12-31-2005, 12:43 AMi think im gonna go buck wild on the links section, thanks nepherim.

Hey Dave, we installed a new Links module at http://www.mr2board.com/links. We have to fill in the categories, but after we do that, members can submit links. Would you mind helping with the categories? Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
