View Full Version : Stripping paint from drivers side mirror

Dance_Business10-08-2007, 11:12 PMWhat is the best and/or easiest way to strip the paint off the mirror I just bought on ebay? It's a really nice blue, but my car is primer. I want it to match!:D Seems sanding it would be a bit dangerous for a noob like me. Is there a solvent to use. I do not want to damage the glass; it's crystal clear. TomsMR210-09-2007, 05:35 PMyou cant chemical strip any of the composite plastics on the car (bumpers, mirrors, trim, etc etc). it'll destroy them, quickly!

just sand it, its easy. use 320 or 400 grit by hand. you'd be really hard pressed to mess up hand sanding with a grit like that :)

you can disassemble the mirror and pop the glass out too.. when i painted mine i didnt bother though, just tape off the glass with masking tape. Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
