sunbug09-18-2007, 05:31 PMHello!

Got a few questions around the TRD2000GT-replica kits.. Can I expect the look and quality to be as good as the real thing?

I'm going to use a bodyshop of some sort to do the job if I get one.. Any ideas of how long such a job would take? Complete with a full respary..

And last, any one got any experience with some of the replicas? What manufactor does people use? Any bether than the others?

A few pics of the result that i want. ;)

And by the way.. This is not related to the widebody questuions.. Any (web)shops around that sells the original toms'kit? It's out of production i think(?)

-t ;) PHOENIX09-18-2007, 06:06 PM99% of the widebody kits you see out there, is fake (just fyi).

With enough work, any kit/car can be made to look like the real thing. Chances are, you are going to purchase a widebody kit that is a knock off (unless you have $8000 lying around). So, taking it to a body shop is the best idea. All fiberglass has imperfections, and its the responsibility of the body shop to find and take out the imperfections before they spray. The cheapest and worst kits roughly run about $600 to $800, but these kits will hit your pocket book later down the road when the body shop has to spend more time sanding and fiberglassing the imperfections out.

My advice, spend a few more bucks on the kit, so it won't hit your pocket book at the body shop.

I prefer Vis Racing Body kits, i have been happy with what i have seen from them. But, others have been dissapointed. Before you buy, post a thread about the people who you are going to buy from here on the board and ask if anyone has purchased from them and find out about the quality.

Toms kit - almost all shops that carry mr2 body kits sells this kit. its one of the more popular ones. CRJpilot09-19-2007, 12:50 AMDoes anyone know how many hours a competent body shop would take to put a real TRD 2000GT kit on? sunbug09-19-2007, 03:03 PM99% of the widebody kits you see out there, is fake (just fyi).

I know it's out of production, but i dont know when they stopped ;) 2Crooky09-21-2007, 03:21 PMThat first piccy you posted is a UK lady owner on IMOC-UK called Toni, its a GENUINE TRD!!! Captain Yeats10-05-2007, 04:25 AMI've got a widebody TRD on mine, I'm sure its a fake but it was put on quite well and with whole car repainted it looks really good. I bought my car with it on I got no idea how much time it would take, a lot I'm assuming because its a huge project, you replace most of the cars paneling.

It will also need some repairs to the fiberglass; wheel wells, and the parts where the front quarters bolt in. I have epoxied them for now.
