Okay, my plan this summer was to actually take my car apart and restore everything from the ground up. But, plans changed, i just finished college and i ended up getting a job maybe an hour away from home. So, as of now i am renting a place in that town... BUT i come home one day a week on sunday. SO, i decided im gona work one day a week for a year and see where this gets me. I will update at the end of the day on every sunday, but for the most part, this will be a reminder for me of what i have done.
First, ill post some pics of what my car first looked like in summer of 2004:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/jon_fujioka/mr2/interiorpic.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/jon_fujioka/mr2/enginepic.jpg
Then i purchased a body kit, which i really do not enjoy as of now. I DO like the style of the border front, but the toms side does not do it for me, especially since the front attachments are not flush and without them they kill the line flow of the car. As for the future, im planning to go back with the stock oem front bumper and rear bumper. Already purchased a genuine greddy lip and possibly will go with the border sideskirt and rear add-ons.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/jon_fujioka/mr2/DSCF0421.jpg jon_mr208-16-2007, 01:37 AMAnd then, i really dont know what i was thinking when i did this. But recently i have removed all the fiberglass in the mouldings and will be replacing them back with the old ones.

Then in december of 2006 look what i went and did... was very dissapointed in myself...

Today i got more stuff off the car as well as created a problem, but hey... who said projects go perfectly as planned :P
So today i removed the hood, engine lid and panels, rear window moulding, t-tops and all attached mouldings, almost got the dash off, just gotta remove the steering wheel to pull the dash off, so i guess ill do that next weekend. and lastly, while i was removing the rear corner windows... i ended up shattering the driver side one  well, cant do anything about it now but get a new one. it was totally my fault, and i feel really stupid about doing it now... let me explain myself. so while i was prying at it slowly to loosen the adhesive, i left the nuts on the back of the window on loosely and yeah, i forgot to remove them after i pried back the window and cut the adhesive with the razor. anyways, heres pics again:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/jon_fujioka/mr2/DSC04303.jpg

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/jon_fujioka/mr2/DSC04351.jpg
and finally my car cover ^^^ got it off ebay, seems to be of a pretty good quality... but i just needed it to keep the night animals out of my car, lol.
PLANS for next weekend is to remove the dash, and maybe prep and possibly pull the engine.

heres some pics of the goods:

okay, so a few things i did this week...
ordered some border replica sideskirts and rear add-ons.
put a down payment on my friends work emotions, since hes parting out his car.
removed a lot more things on my car again. cooling system stuff, whatever else attached in the engine bay, more stuff that was in the frunk, took out the dash finally, and some other miscellaneous things.
dont have pics this week... lost the cam :(
will have some next week for sure :D Mister2.208-20-2007, 01:59 AM*watching* jon_mr208-26-2007, 08:46 PMWeek Six: Dissasembling Part 8
Sunday, August 26, 2007
okay... so i tracked my package for the sideskirts and rear add-ons, looks like its an island away, should be here beginning of next week sometime.
oh... and now my friend is kinda iffy about selling his rims, so i duno if im gona get em. if not, i think i might get some rims about the same sizes anyways... maybe bigger if anything. will take me longer to get, but... hey, not like im gona be finished with this anytime soon, lol. i do hope i can get those rims though, because it is a deal...
today i didnt really do much, slept most of the day. found the camera and took some pics. heres where the project stands at the moment.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/jon_fujioka/mr2/DSC04555.jpg
so close, but so far...
oh yeah, i gotta drain gas so i can drop the tank.
i want to remove all the suspension and brakes, but i want to test fit the rims first and make them fit right in the body frame and panels... oh yeah, damn... that means i have to put back the rear crossmember, shucks... jon_mr209-02-2007, 11:48 PMWeek Seven: Dissasembling Part 9
Sunday, September 2, 2007
So i got home this weekend and my kit came in! so im stoked about that. got it from chaser aerodynamics. parts came shipped fast and well packed. and fitment was tight but not too bad. heres some pics of it. oh yeah, and heres a few of the greddy front lip as well.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/jon_fujioka/mr2/DSC04585.jpg

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/jon_fujioka/mr2/mr2004.jpg
i still need to find me a stock front bumper and rear bumper. and i think i might as well get some fenders as well too, because in the crash they got a little bent and it would be a lot easier to replace then spend the time bodyworking and stuff. jon_mr209-02-2007, 11:53 PMalso, put back my front fenders, rear crossmember and all the suspension so when i do get the wheels i can fit them properly. i might get them this weekend, if not probably next one. so when i do get them, ill post more pics :thumbup i feel like im at a stopping point without bodyworking the fenders for the bigger wheels. because i cant remove any of the suspension, brakes, steering stuff, so yeah... thats all for now.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/jon_fujioka/mr2/DSC04592.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y281/jon_fujioka/mr2/DSC04594.jpg
oh yeah, i also got this in storage as well... got it off ebay. i only wish that the whole center peice was covered in carbon fiber, only the top is and the rest is fiberglass. so maybe i might try laying a few layers of carbon fiber and resin to the peice and clearcoat it... if i feel like it :P

Monday, September 3, 2007
So yeah, today i went over to my friends house and picked up the rims. came home and put them on the car. now all i gotta do is adjust the coilovers to my desired height. thinking about putting 5mm spacers up front because when i lower the coilovers to the bottom most setting, the adjusting part touches the lip of the front wheel. and probably 10mm spacers in the rear because already the fronts stick out about 2-3 mm more than the rears and id rather have the rears stick out more than the front just a little bit more. other than that i have no rubbing issues with anything and rims look good :thumbup
and i dont have adjusting tools for my coilovers... :( bought them used like that. so if anyone has a better way to adjust them rather than a screw driver and hammer or a big pliers, i would like to know :P

Make sure you look into corner balancing too!
Awesome stuff man! jon_mr209-25-2007, 02:55 AMsorry havent been updating. the other week i got sick and was sick all week... ended up sleeping through my birthday :P then this past week had some plans for the weekend, so didnt get to do any work to the car. i gotta buy some spacers... i think im gona try 15mm up front and stick my 25mm in the rear... just to test it out. just gotta order the 15's, other than that, im in the process of rolling the fenders, i really hope they come out okay, hard with the mouldings being there...
