anyway.. i was previously using a ingersoll rand 212, an older gun.. quality, but i was still breaking out my 1/2 inch IR ti gun for big jobs. plus it had an on-off trigger, which im not a fan of.. so it was time for an upgrade.

for a long time the ingersoll rand titanium guns were THE guns to have.. not anymore. i picked up a snap-on mg31 3/8th impact and its a MONSTER! it out torques the IR Ti gun, and it stops spinning when you release the trigger, really nice, especially with swivel sockets that like to fly off and smash your face.. also has a variable trigger.

the only thing that sucks is the power adjustment is really hard to turn, and its louder than hell! its expensive, but all professional tools are : /

if you're in the market for a 3/8th impact, and you want the absolute most awesome thing out there.. get the mg31!

TomsMR205-09-2007, 10:32 PMmy pneumatic 1/2 inch lays out 1000 ft/lbs. ive never seen an electric over 400 or so. plus air guns spin a lot faster.. lets you work a little quicker.

the electrics are cool to have at home.. you dont have to fire up the compressor and fill it just to remove some lug nuts real quick or something.. but in terms of raw power, theres no comparison, air takes the cake! I'm not a fan at all of 3/4"-1/2" reducers. I used to work at a hardware store and would see 10-15 a DAY that had the 1/2" section spun off... Of course, ours only cost $14.99 so that $45 one BETTER be tougher. presure212-16-2007, 08:38 AMtom, that snap on gun is THE STUFF.
a buddy @ work has one, i plan on getting one soon as well.
i was amazed by how light, yet powerfull that damn thing is first time i saw one in person last year.

they're not bad tools.. ive just found you can bypass matco and buy the literally exact same tool directly from whoever makes it.. sometimes you can even buy them from matco! gearwrench makes their torque wrenches.. the matco guy offered me one for 100, or the one with the matco sticker for 300. ve2dict12-09-2008, 03:27 PMthey make that exact same snap on gun now in 1/2 inch but still the same casing so its the same size...now thats the best gun ever Luni12-09-2008, 03:56 PMHow much does that gun run Tom? masagsxr12-09-2008, 04:03 PMHow much is that Tom? TomsMR212-09-2008, 09:22 PMthe little 3/8th is 299, the big 1/2 is 399.. theres a bunch on ebay right now for under 200 bucks though, used. the snapon 1/2 is 810 ft/lbs, and you never have to service it (same with the 3/8th).
