Node09-12-2005, 04:59 PMMy twin turbo is almost ready for paint. Please excuse the ghetto wheels that are on the front temporarily.

http://bulldog.unca.edu/~jmpersek/public_html/dsc_018.jpg canadam09-12-2005, 05:03 PMlooks better than the red :D:D ALLSHOTUP09-12-2005, 06:57 PMDude, I like it . It looks EVIL , Nasty if you will. Node09-12-2005, 07:45 PMWhat do you guys think? Should I paint it black? It would mean a LOT of painstakeing body work to get all the surfaces smooth. Im also considering a flat black with a pearl. Close to primer but much smoother looking. Maybe a little of that SR71 look?

Im open to ideas. Im going to order paint next week after we get back from atlanta. ALLSHOTUP09-12-2005, 09:53 PMDude, Gloss black as you said is a biatch . The flat black is sort of way cool. Red will be sexy as well. Have you thought about Electron Blue Pearl ? Or Ford use to have a killer Blue called Moonlight Pearlescent Clearcoat Metallic. I'm sort of parcel to yellow and white myself. :-) Node09-13-2005, 01:08 AMI kinda want to avoid bright or loud colors. While I dont have much trouble with police here in asheville I have had LOTs of issues with cops following me around in other towns. I dont like them behind me because then I cant speed. And I like to speed ;)

Do you think if I went with a flat black I would get people asking me all the time why the car isnt painted? AndrewMcG09-13-2005, 08:48 AMDo you think if I went with a flat black I would get people asking me all the time why the car isnt painted?
Maybe, but just tell them to STFU!!! I like the SR71 idea. Gloss black is a bitch to keep clean so the flatter black sounds like an awesome idea. Triad.:09-13-2005, 10:24 AMI'm sort of parcel to yellow and white myself. :-)
You like to send white and yellow boxes?

I don't like flat black. It's so mundane. Gloss black, white, or silver would be my choices. NoSirItsAToyota09-13-2005, 01:25 PMI think that if you put some much time and money into making that car what it is now, that you should at least give it a decent paint job! EL PAALO09-13-2005, 02:03 PMreal paint is my vote.
flat colors get dirty as hell and are really tough to clean. unless you're going camo, don't bother. ;)

former '69 baja bug with urban camo (black/white/grey) color scheme owner. :D Node09-13-2005, 02:35 PMSo, thats a difinative vote for NO flat colors. Im looking at some chips right now and I found a dark gray with lots of sparkle in it that would look very clean. Im going to go with jet black on top with a couple of clear coats and probably that medium dark gray with a large percentage of flake for the lower portion of the car. Im attempting a photochop right now. ALLSHOTUP09-13-2005, 08:59 PMI

After they hear your exhaust and turbos they are not going to care about the paint. :D mr2greasemonkey09-14-2005, 01:35 AMi say, CHROME BABY!, mirror finish, that would be awesome! Hahaha. mr2slow4you09-14-2005, 07:45 AMDamn, I need to see your car again. It looks like 100 times better already. V6'er09-14-2005, 10:41 AMPaint it any color you like. Then put in the SR71 stealth electronics and it won't matter. :)

Hey, I'm sure a mere $100k or so can get you that stuff. ALLSHOTUP09-14-2005, 10:33 PMPaint it any color you like. Then put in the SR71 stealth electronics and it won't matter. :)

Hey, I'm sure a mere $100k or so can get you that stuff.

I can hear Jim speeding past the NC highway Patrol saying "Get you some" . G3aR09-30-2005, 10:22 PMi vote for red or silver. black is a bitch to keep clean. silver blands nicely and usually donest attract much SKYMR210-01-2005, 05:21 AMhttp://www.moesrealm.com/img/Photoshop/sr71.jpg mymr2turbo10-06-2005, 03:10 PMPersonally, I wouldn't do Flat color. After SCC painted their S13 that color, more cars are popping up with the same scheme. Hell even a saturn is rolling around the neighborhood flat black.

After you've put all that money into the motor and the body itself, it's no time to take the cheap route on the paint. If I was going for a darker color then I'd go charcoal gray. I don't know how it would look but perhaps the olive color that's on the Honda Element?? That'd be different. But like you mentioned before, I would'nt go with any loud colors that screams for attention. The cops would love to have a reason to pull you over and get ahold of your car and just write you tickets for all the non-C.A.R.B. bullcrap.

BTW, does your car even pass emissions??

Steve SKYMR210-06-2005, 03:13 PMthis gonna be one sweet ride Luni10-06-2005, 03:46 PMHoly wheel gap.

You gonna put a suspension on that thing? Coastal10-06-2005, 04:14 PMSMG widebody = hawtness!

A nice charcoal or metallic gunmetal would be nice as mentioned. Node10-06-2005, 06:18 PMHoly wheel gap.

You gonna put a suspension on that thing?

Suspension is next. Look at the back, the wheel gap isnt quite as bad back there with the correct wheels on the car. I will be building a custom suspension soon dont you worry :D I have been considering a push rod setup up front. Mister2.210-06-2005, 10:17 PMHow about this color orange?

http://www.mr2board.com/files/Mister2.2/Color%20Examples/Orange/Orange-MarcosTSOGT.jpg Helka10-06-2005, 10:47 PMHey My bro a while back bought a Porsche 944 that had an amazing metalic green colour to it...i think it was called British Racing Green....At night the car looked blue but it did not change colour. Seeing a green mr2 would be sick. blazinmr210-12-2005, 09:11 PMI say british racing green EL PAALO10-12-2005, 09:23 PMpink to match your panties? SpeedballTrix10-16-2005, 12:49 AMCopper-Orange would be sexy, but since you don't want flash I say definately black or gunmetal.
If you black, you should PC the rims black too and go with a nice dark tint.
I know the all black look isn't exactly new, but I love it so much =D
Gunmetal would be sick too and more unique. Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
