the handles have been replaced with sheetmetal and welded, thats all i know GF309-06-2005, 03:46 PMYea nice man the car looks so sleek with shaved handles.

Yae what you do is cut the handles out a square or oval around the handle out of the door... Then you cut a piece of sheet metal that is the same size of the piece you cut out and weld that in to the hole. Then grind down the welds and bondo or whatever is needed over the rest...

I actually shaved all the moldings on the side of the car to. My car is still not painted hopefully end of this week. I will post pics keep these comming. zman33609-21-2005, 07:23 PMto go off of GF3, if the welding and plate size is done correctly it should require very little body work to finalize it and get it ready for paint. Good luck with it if you are going to do that, i personally think it makes a car look really good. pies09-24-2005, 07:48 PMwhat do you guys who have shaved, use to open your doors?? jon_mr209-24-2005, 09:22 PMi started to mold in all my side molding for the body kit... but im in school again, so i dont really have the time to finish... but if anyone like see my progress, click on the pic. haha, but if you look close, theres still fiberglass needing to be sanded... :( i really need to finish it.

With the 2's I never even notice the lack of handles... It looks so natural! canadam09-25-2005, 02:39 AMplease remove the mirrors before you paint the car shavedturbo09-25-2005, 02:50 PMpies: i have a remote with a button for each door and it pops the door open Hybrid1009-26-2005, 04:00 PMi just shaved the handles on my truck
you can buy a spal shaved handle kit on ebay....its very easy to wire. you have to install the electro magnet thingy to pop the latch.... and a door popper to push door open. it is pretty easy to install all the parts..the body work is the hard part. i had some filler plates made...then you weld them in.make sure you grind off all paintwhere your welding. you have to tack weld them in very slowly. blow air on each weld after each tack. the reason is to keep the metal from warping.if the metal warps youll need to pull/push the dent out.when use a fiberglass reinforce body filler (kittyhair) and wipe it on. sand it down the use a regular body filler and slick it out. then paint GF309-26-2005, 07:45 PMI will get some pics of mine tomorrow if i can get to the body shop GF309-29-2005, 07:51 PMHere is my as of now

http://i.onlineshowoff.com/media/photos/cars/6236/o_40246.jpg zman33609-29-2005, 09:15 PMI think shaved handles make any car look cleaner especially our 2's. I had the handles shaved on my 93 celica gt and it made it look so much better. Oh also having an external button on the car is quite nice in the case where your battery dies in your remote or some other unforseen emergency. Lots of people will say that it is not that good of an idea but if you put it in a very unique location (like not in the wheel wells) then you will be just fine.
