View Full Version : Poll: Newer Badge on an MK2?

imweip01-12-2007, 07:46 AMI've been pondering this for a long while now. What is everyone's opinion on putting this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TRD-jspec-hood-emblem-badge-MR2-Spyder-MRS-colors_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33643QQihZ004QQi temZ140072896124QQrdZ1
Badge on an MK2? I was thinking the black one to not be too flashy. I really like the badge a lot more than the toyota emblem. The first thing that made me like Mr2s was when I first rode in an MK1, I noticed the emblem up front wasn't some big glaring company logo, and rather a model specific logo. And that bird is cool as hell on the newer logo. So, Give me your opinions. I'm likely going to do it someday despite what you guys say, but I'm still curious if it's a taboo like the ferrari badges. :P I don't think it's that big of a deal because its the same brand and model. Kind of like how the Integra guys will change their acura logos for honda logos. Its kinda lame, but at least it's the same company.

And does anyone know if the prongs line up with the holes on the MK2? Davis01-12-2007, 08:51 AMI like how the mkIII emblem looks and the MKI emblem is also pretty nice. I was planning to get an MKIII emblem to put on my 2 at the end of the month :) i'm getting the original blue one, seeing how those are painted i think Matt94MR201-12-2007, 08:57 AMFYI, you can pick those up brand new from Toyota for under $20 but they only come in blue. I have the blue one on my car but I wouldn't mind having a black one instead. imweip01-12-2007, 04:20 PMFYI, you can pick those up brand new from Toyota for under $20 but they only come in blue. How hard was it to put on? Do the holes line up. Everett01-12-2007, 05:49 PMI put some black ones on my car. They look cool to me! Hiighboost201-12-2007, 05:59 PMId get it :D mgd_only01-12-2007, 10:42 PMi don't like them at all imweip01-12-2007, 10:45 PMi don't like them at all

Thanks for your honest opinion. But how do you feel about other people putting them on their cars? Is it lame, or you just don't care for the badge? Matt94MR201-13-2007, 12:44 AMHow hard was it to put on? Do the holes line up.
Not difficult at all. IIRC the JDM badge has two pegs and only one of them lines up so I filed off the other peg, lined it up and the double stick tape on the back does the rest. RePete01-13-2007, 06:42 AMI feel like mgd_only and I are in the minority on these badges. I feel that sleek, mid-engine cars and chicken, bird things just don't go together, they're so out of place, IMO. I spray painted my badge silver on the hood of my SC when I first bought it and I'd do the same with these if they were stock mounted! imweip01-13-2007, 07:42 AMI feel like mgd_only and I are in the minority on these badges. Its a falcon or something though. Those are like speedy and agile and stuff. I don't know that you're in the minority either. Only 9 people have voted. I figured this would be split down the middle. 5FistsoftheNorthStar01-13-2007, 12:56 PMHey Imweip is this just a general poll for entertainment or is this gonna be somewhat a decision on your badge choice?

Did you get another 2?

***topic***

I don't like those badges on either cars. Those are too bulky. Maybe if the bird and the border of the emblem were raised and had no background then yeah.(if you don't know what I mean, just think of it as if it were to look like the Toyota emblem on the MKII, but instead it was the bird)

If you were to go for something like a badge of this aesthetic then I would go for the MKI badge. imweip01-13-2007, 04:06 PMHey Imweip is this just a general poll for entertainment or is this gonna be somewhat a decision on your badge choice?

It's kind of a poll for entertainment. It will not effect my choice. I am however still up in the air as to whether I'd do it. I'm leaning towards yes. I do not have another 2 yet. I'm working on that though. The only way I can get more money from work is to travel. I just did a road show last weekend in Atlanta, and hung out with Ncturnal and Just Wong it. I'm going to tampa in feb, and LA in April. Hopefully I can get a few more trips in between there. My goal is to have enough money in 6 months. If all goes well, and Brian can fix my car, I'll try and buy it back from him.

I understand exactly what you're saying about the badge, but I kind of like the bulkiness. If I get my yellow car, I was thinking about doing the yellow if it matched perfectly. That'd be kind of nice. 5FistsoftheNorthStar01-13-2007, 09:10 PMThats great news that you'll be sticking around.

As they say...different strokes for different folks. :) TKMR201-13-2007, 10:38 PMI wouldn't say that it's ugly but I deffinately wouldn't do it to my car. imweip01-13-2007, 10:39 PMThats great news that you'll be sticking around.

I just need to keep my car away from you if I see you with hockey stick in hand. :) Mr2crazybyong01-14-2007, 05:20 AMi like it, but maybe not on the nose but on both fenders.. imweip01-14-2007, 08:33 AMi like it, but maybe not on the nose but on both fenders..

I could see that, but not on my car. :) KartMR201-14-2007, 03:20 PMI got it from Carson Toyota @ $18 for the OEM blue ones. 5FistsoftheNorthStar01-14-2007, 09:36 PMI just need to keep my car away from you if I see you with hockey stick in hand. :)

 :twak: Muahahahah.... NIXmx01-14-2007, 10:03 PMWhen I bought a few things from Twos R Us I bought the mk1 vinyl (1.5") so see if it would look good on mine, test only. When I saw it on my car it looked like the bird logo was too bulky and geometric, unlike the mk2. I'm going to order the yellow mk3 emblem and see how it looks being color coordinated.

This is off topic.. What do you think about the rear? Debadging? All, some, or none? With my 2000 Camry I debadged 'Toyota' and 'Camry' and left the 'T' logo, it looked great. What is your opinion about the MR2s? imweip01-15-2007, 07:28 AMWhen I bought a few things from Twos R Us I bought the mk1 vinyl (1.5") so see if it would look good on mine, test only. Well If I'm able to buy my car back from Ncturnal, I'm hoping to have the 94 tails with no MR2 badge in the back, I'm thinking everything except the turbo badge gets removed. But most likely I'll remove that too. I was wondering what the same badge this post is about would look like on the taillight centerpeice. If you do any mock ups, take pics for me, that'd be awesome. imweip01-15-2007, 11:52 AMI just saw a pic of this badge on an MR2, and I had no clue how big it is... I may be changing my mind. :( mista2turbo01-15-2007, 11:52 AMthe MKIII badge wouldnt fit right on the 94+ centerpiece. The MKIII badge has a slight curve to it to match the curve of the hoods.
I've seen someone with one of these on their fender and thought it looked like ass. I like the look of it on the MKII nose though. I bought one a few years ago to put on the nose of my old MKII. Maybe I'll dig it out to put on the new one sometime. NIXmx01-15-2007, 01:16 PMthe MKIII badge wouldnt fit right on the 94+ centerpiece. Could you give us the dimensions of it? TKMR201-18-2007, 04:45 PMWhen I bought a few things from Twos R Us I bought the mk1 vinyl (1.5") so see if it would look good on mine, test only. thats a good idea, Id rather mod the badge than my front bumper 5FistsoftheNorthStar01-26-2007, 10:18 AMhow about porsche style? found it on ebay. http://i14.ebayimg.com/03/i/000/85/b1/589f_1_b.JPG

Now those are nice...this should be the substitute for the MKIII badges. Good find crazy...

Do you still have the link? Mr2crazybyong01-26-2007, 09:25 PM*yawn* just woke up, Good morning peeps! hehe.. Here you go MR. 2Lanes

Or even after seeing the engine is in the back they ask its fwd tho right? goose258002-08-2007, 07:25 AMexactly MuMan02-27-2007, 11:26 PMI really hate the Toyota 'hat' on MR2's, it belongs on Camry's..
I originally fitted the stock blue one on my car, which is red/black/cf and it just didn't do it. So I took it off and fitted one of those black ones..looks much better.
They're good quality, not painted...go ahead and do it, you can always take it off. ursoboostd02-28-2007, 07:41 AMi think it looks good with no badge's at all

X2 wagonis03-28-2007, 01:49 AMYou know what would look SICK?!?!?!?

http://www.xs4all.nl/~galdeij/start.jpg

Now THAT would be THE emblem to put on the MR2. No doubt. TomsMR203-29-2007, 12:46 AMI feel that sleek, mid-engine cars and chicken, bird things just don't go together, they're so out of place, IMO.

why? ferrari has some goofy pony on it, lambo has some fat bull. porsche has a deer looking weird thing. animals and sportscars go hand in hand :p

i dont like the mk3 badge, but i do like the mk1 badge. RePete03-29-2007, 11:30 PMwhy? ferrari has some goofy pony on it, lambo has some fat bull. porsche has a deer looking weird thing...Yes, and they all look silly and a little childish, your descriptions say it all. Just because the big boys run that sort of crap on exotic cars doesn't mean ours should. It's not quite the emulated wood-on-the-side look of your standard 80s station wagon but I don't think those animals belong on a car. :p

I think we're pretty lucky to get the MKII as it shipped - no nothing (except for that dough boy showing a touchdown, of course) :) TomsMR203-29-2007, 11:52 PMchildish.. maybe.. but its still right in place ;) Ghost Ridah04-10-2007, 01:18 PMI have the MKI badge on my MKII. It looks great. I love it. black94t04-10-2007, 03:02 PMCorrect me if I'm wrong guys, but arent the new Toyota badges a bit bigger than when the MR2s were in production (early 90s)? I've got a nice black badge that is 2.5" where my stock was something like 1.75". I figure i have a newer Toyota badge than what the early-mid 90s had. With the black badge, it doesnt stick out too much. I vote no on the 80s badges and yes on the badge as long as it doesnt stick out and attract attention. But I'm not ashamed it's a toyota. :P mr2silvertop04-10-2007, 03:44 PMi was kind of thinkin about getting the mr-s badge and turning the s around to look like a 2 what do you think and yeah go for it just little details can make a car look cool David07-12-2007, 10:50 AMdoesnt s look the same way turned around? ud have to flip it. cbulen08-01-2007, 12:46 PMCan someone post a pic of this emblem on thier car, standing back far enough to get most of the front of the car, so we can get an idea as to the size of the emblem?

Or at least post a pic of it next to a dollar or ruler, or the original T badge. Achilles04-23-2009, 09:47 PMI think it's a great idea, go for it xmista2x04-25-2009, 07:17 PMMKIII badge on MKII, checking in!
