View Full Version : For Sale: 1989 AW11- Good Track or Rallycross car

jawatkins9507-10-2018, 06:10 PMI have for sale a 1989 Toyota MR2 with an unspecified amount of miles (odometer broke), a shoddily "repaired" front end (it got into a fight with an Oldsmobile... and won!), and a freshly "rebuilt" engine that burns too much oil.
The car runs and drives well, it just looks... homely.
The engine was rebuilt about 4000 miles ago and has been rebuilt with all new gaskets, bearings, pistons, rings, water pump, and oil pump.
It could use a new, higher quality set of rings; I suspect that is why it burns so much oil; it also needs an O2 sensor wired back in; otherwise it runs well.
The clutch is new and the transmission operates pretty smoothly. Tires are in good condition; comes with an extra set of wheels
Car could be parted out; I just don't feel like it.

The front body is severely damaged and needs to be properly repaired; again, this would make a good track toy or rallycross car. It could be driven home, but I wouldn't recommend going a long distance; you'll need to add a half a quart of oil every 200 miles
I've had my fun with it and need to make room in the garage. PM for more pics, offer, or more information
PRICE: $1000 OBO (Make an offer)

[42070 mr2tim07-11-2018, 11:46 AMThanks for entertaining ad, it's good to see some humor out there in this politically desperate time.

I'm at odds with ya'll on whether the Oldsmobile lost in the head butt contest. The suspension pieces can be welded into a correct "enuff" position which confirms this could be a fun car OFF thee road for someone willing.

Let's hope with your help it will live a 2nd life. After all, these cars were THEE rally cars back in the late 80's. :wtf:

The Oldsmobile was actually totalled; hence why it lost. :p

The bumper support and core support need to be straightened and the front tub needs to be welded; or someone could just make a bash bar for it. :D Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 Copyright © 2026 vBulletin Solutions Inc. All rights reserved.
